imac or hp computer?

Our Dell computer is fried and we need to buy a new one. What would you suggest as a good computer? We have it narrowed down to a hp and a imac.

Not even a contest... Go Mac! Once you've went Mac you will never go back. Why not add the Mac Mini into the choices. The Mac Mini starts at $699. A mini is really a great computer. Don't let the name fool you. Take a drive to an Apple Store and test drive one.

No, I don't work for Steve Jobs or Apple but I've went from being a staunch Windows man to a Mac man in just a few years. My eight year old daughter has a Mac Mini in her room and she has had a MacBook since she was four. She emails, goes to websites, loads songs onto her iPod and has even designed her own Christmas card.

Keep this in mind, if you really find that you can't adjust to the OS X operating system or you have programs that can only be run in Windows, you can dual boot your Mac to run both operating systems! Try and do that on a Dell or HP. That's right, you simply hold down a key while booting and it will ask you Windows or OS X. In Windows mode your computer is actually a Windows machine and can do anything any other Windows machine can do.

I second Bell. No contest. The iMac will far outlast any PC you buy. We have 5 Macs in the house, the oldest one is from 1980's and it works. Do you have a PC from the 1980's that works? I don't know any from them that work since most don't last more than a few years.

They do cost more but in the long run, you will end up buying 2 PCs when 1 Mac will last.

Go with the Mac. Although the upfront cost is more the long run costs are less in my opinion. We've had to take our Hps and dells in for repairs many times. No problems with the mac

I agree with everyone above. We are now a three mac family, two laptops and one imac. You will not be sorry.

MAC and this comes from a die hard PC fan. I now only have a vintage HP notebook to run a special embroidery program on and it hooks right into my machine.

Our kids all have touches, the older two have MacBooks, our youngest uses the MacPad, we have Iphone and love all the MAC products. They work better, last longer and are easier to use. Guess what is in all the schools? MAC.

<-----Done with Windows machines. We bought the kids Macs and they're awesome. Our next computer will be an Apple.

On the other side we have 2 HP computers, a desktop and a laptop. Both have been great, low maintenance and they work fine. I think you have to really consider what you want it for and decide from there. Compare features before you decide.
