Have you all noticed that during Kerry's campaign ad disclaimer the music from the ad is still playing making it flow well. But on Bush's ads, the music stops and it seems like its promoting the upcoming commercial? Someimtes the following commercial makes it comical. "I'm George W. Bush and I approved this message."....."I'm a ford truck man, that's all I drive....." lol

This is not a reflection of the candidates, their values, political views, etc. It's simply something I noticed and wanted to see if anyone else did.

I noticed that, too! I tune out political commercials, so it freaked me out to hear "I'm George Bush, and I approved this message..." and then it went right into a prescription drug commercial.

I have not seen a single Kerry or Bush tv commercial.

Yea, everyone's given up on Texas voters so we don't see any commercials either.

Every commercial break we get 1 of each. I guess we're still a swing state. lol

Well, they only have so much money after all... no one's spending advertising money here in California as well... we're as much a blue state as New York and Massachusetts (which, I'll wager, don't get ads either!)

I can tell you for certain that Boston and Providence news stations (they cover both Southern Mass and RI) don't get any Presidential campaign ads.

Well I from Missouri and we are being pounded to death with commercials..
Cannot watch them anymore. One of them makes me physically sick. They are talking about some judge that let achild molestor "off". Not too bad, right? Ha! They reveal intimate details of the case which are sickening.

We have an ad like that too. The guy running, Warren McGraw, released the offender and sent him to work as a janitor in a school.

One of our candidates - I think for attorney general? - thinks Osama Bin Laden has done a lot of good. (This is a message from her opponent, of course.)

We don't have many national political ads, but all the commercial breaks are filled with the local ones. I honestly don't think I've seen very many Kerry ads. I thought we were a swing state!

I'm in Ohio and we're getting beaten over the head with these ads.

I'm in NY and we do not get any presidential campaign commercials at all.

Oregon is also a "swing state" so we're getting a lot of the Presidential campaign ads. I find the whole "I approve this message" to be very odd. Is this something new required by the campaign reforms recently enacted?

NY State also...I think it's a good thing we're not getting them. I see them on some of the cable stations and I'm getting enough local ads...can't wait till it's all over. (maybe in December????)

In Tampa here and we are getting slammed - I never thought I could be so quick with the 'mute' button.

Interesting article in our paper today about what cities were getting the most ads. A few blurbs follow:

Political Ads Rub Viewers Wrong Way
The Tampa Tribune 10/15/04
By WALT BELCHER

In the Tampa-St. Petersburg TV market, where political commercials have aired more than 3,700 times in the past three weeks...

Few people were surprised that a study of political advertising, released Wednesday, found that Tampa ranks fourth in the nation in the number of commercials aired...

The University of Wisconsin Advertising Project analyzed political television advertising in all 210 media markets across the nation, targeting the number of commercials that ran from Sept. 24 through Oct. 7.

''One of the most significant things we found was that only 27 percent of the voters in the country are seeing 87 percent of the presidential ads,'' Rivlin said. ''If you live in Florida, you've seen everything a lot, but in places like California and New York, they're not being saturated.''

Markets in 10 states - Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin - are getting most of the ads, according to the study.

TOP 10 CITIES
1. Miami (FL)
2. Albuquerque (NM)
3. Reno (NV)
4. Tampa (FL)
5. Green Bay (WI)
6. Cleveland (OH)
7. Toledo (OH)
8. Columbus (OH)
9. Grand Rapids (MI)
10. Harrisburg (PA)

Thank goodness we only have to endure this for a few more weeks! Until then, READY - AIM - MUTE!
