I'm trying so so so hard to not think about upgrades...

We are going to AKL in less then 3 days and I am trying so hard to not think about any upgrades. We are booked for a Standard View room and I am fine with staying in one. After all there are lots of places to look at animals, and I really wanted to stay at the AKL for the look and feel of it. And we don't spend that much time in our rooms. But how cool would it be to receive an upgrade? If we don't receive an upgrade you will never ever hear a peep out of me - but is it wrong that my fingers and toes are doubled crossed?

Nope, I don't see anything wrong with hoping. Your attitude about it is great too, so I don't think you'll suffer from a big disappointment if you don't get that upgrade. To offer an additional glimmer of hope, I have heard that the AKL upgrades from standard view rooms relatively often.

There's nothing wrong with hoping, wishing or wanting. But it's awesome that you have the realization that not getting an upgrade will not wreck your vacation.

Personally, I think the most common upgrades are from Standard, simply because I believe they over book them.

I will be crossing my fingers and toes (and anything else I think of) for you!!

I'm in your position, just at different resorts! Hoping, praying and crossing EVERY extremity that I'll get an upgrade! Nothing at all wrong with it!!!!

And DO BELIEVE that it is a gorgeous, special resort, with many, many wonderful places to explore, no matter where your room is and what the view. Not everyone who books a pool or savannah view room ends up loving it. Some people end up behind a tree and are disappointed they didn't get what they expected.

I'm so envious! Hope you have a spectacular trip!

to a savannah view and was then offered concierge for an additional charge. We just stayed with the (gratis) savannah view. What a wonderful hotel.

I was like you! I was hoping for that upgrade cause I knew we'd spend a fair amount of time in the room (our youngest was 20 months old at the time and took naps there) but I didn't request an upgrade. I remember being so nervous about our room! We got an upgrade and that was cool but really the resort is awesome whether you're looking out your room at animals or seeing them from all the viewing spots. I'd take standard room at AKL any day!

All the times we have gone to WDW I have never thought or hoped for an upgrade. I always book what I want and then not worry about it. Good thing too as I have NEVER gotten an upgrade at any WDW resort!
