Like Pooh in rabbits door, I'm stuck....

Details: We're going to be in The World 12/15 - 12/19, with 3 days park hopper tickets, DDP, CP on the 16th and MVMCP tix for 12/18. There are 2 adults, one Disney adult (i.e. 10 year DS) and DD (7).

So far, our dining reservations look like this:

Saturday: counter service day
Sunday: CP dining pkg @ Le Chefs (EPCOT all day)
Monday: Chrystal Palace, 8:05 am; switch parks to MGM before 3:00 parade (stay at MGM thru Fantasmic)
Hollywood & Vine (not Fantasmic pkg) -- this is what I'm looking to ditch.
Tuesday: Tutto Italia for early dinner, then head over to MVMCP
Wednesday: departure day

So as you can see, I want to get out of the H&V buffet on Monday evening...I made it in haste. My bind is this: We're going to be at the MK for the morning, then hop over to MGM for the parade, Osbourne lights and Fantasmic. The parade being at 3:00, and not really wanting to LEAVE MGM to go very far anyway, we're stuck eating dinner at MGM -- not a pretty thought. It looks like Brown Derby is the only TS eatery at MGM that gets any positive reviews, but it requires 2 TS credits for each of us.

I thought about heading over to one of the resorts near MGM for a late lunch or early dinner (having had a big breakfast that day at CP), but none of the MGM resorts seem to have lunch TS -- only dinnner.

So -- if you had to choose a MGM TS, which is the least bad? Or can you see a way to put our TS someplace else and just do CS at MGM (which is also bad, but it doesn't hurt as much wasting a CS credit).

First of all, H&V has gotten many POSITIVE Reviews as well. If it were me, I would keep it (cause it WILL be better than CS at MGM!!) or I would do CS at MK before leaving to head to MGM. Other than that, no options sound that great for your plan not to mention it is awfully late to get a TS ADR.

H & V is the ONLY restaurant on WDW that we will NOT return to. Our experience there was horrible.
We ate at 50's Prime Time a few weeks ago and had a great time. We loved the atmosphere, our server was good and not "over the top" and are food was very good. We expected "down home" type cooking and we were not disappointed. DS and I had the Fried Chicken and it was very good. I substituted corn for the greens and it was very good. DH had the meat loaf and he all but licked his plate clean. He had the giant sundae for desert and DS and I had vanilla Frappes (shakes) that were out of this world good. I was a little worried about this ADR before going. I would go back again anytime.

MGM resorts via boat: what about Beaches and Cream, Yacht Club Galley or any of the other locations (ESPN--I think they are open for lunch) that are on the Boardwalk?

Walk or take the boat over to the Boardwalk. Lots of restaurants there. Spoodles is one of our favorites. Or like PP suggested boat on over to the Beach Club for Beaches and Cream, (yummy) Cape May Cafe, or Yachtsman Steakhouse.

We have ate at H & V a couple times and really had nothing but good experiences. The service was good and the food...while buffet...was very good. Prime Time is one we also really like. The kids love going there.

Spoodles on the boardwalk is good.

My family ate at Mama Melrose's in October and it was really good. I had the shrimp pasta in a white sauce and my husband had the Italian sausage dish. The kids both enjoyed their "kid" meals as well. We loved the bread and dipping sauces. I would go there again!

Are you looking for any dining in MGM or a Fantasmic Package? I have never eaten at Mama Melrose so I can't review it. H&V, couldn't eat the food, literally. Brown Derby is expensive but is good. This does require 2 TS credits, but the price oop is now around $48+tax. Some people don't like BD because it is expensive. I don't choose a restaurant based on fast and cheap. If you aren't wanting a package, I would suggest 50's or Sci-Fi.

(like ya'll care! )

I'm going to dump H&V - and the idea of eating at MGM - altogether. I'll call and see if I can get an early dinner at Spoodles - head over to the BW right after the Holly-day parade. If there isn't anything available at Spoodles, we can walk up to ESPN and hopefully, since we'll be there for an EARLY dinner, it won't take too long to get in.

Then we'll boat back over to MGM for Osbourne and Fantasmic.

Thanks for all your input...I'd forgotten you could boat over to the BW from MGM. We  the BW area and were hoping to work it in during this trip.

As far as resturants in MGM you dont have the greatest selection for the 1 credit resturants, I agree. Sci Fi and 50's cafe have great atmosphere, but the food is avg. I wouldnt say it is bad, but it isnt anything I was blown away by. At Sci Fi expect typical american resturant fare (think TGI Fridays).

At 50's Cafe I thought the food was good but is very traditional and not what i ma looking for on a vacation. The wait staff is very playful and fun to interact with.

I agree though if you are going strictly for food, go over to the boardwalk. Spoodles is great and actually my and my wife's fav resturant.
