I'm so sad...

My very best friend is moving to New York next week.
My heart is broken. It's like I'm losing the closest person to me I've ever had. (including boyfriend and family)

I know I still have all the rest of my gang here, but she's the one that meant the most to me.

I just wish she'd stay. I'll miss her so much.

sorry this doesn't make sense, but I need to "talk" to people who aren't close to the situation.

Keep in touch with her as much as you can via email, letters, phone calls.... One of my friends lives very far from me, but we chat with each other via email, and we also send each other something every month. We pick a theme and sent each other things according to the theme and what we think each other likes. It's a nice way to know that although that person is not there with you on a daily basis, they are still thinking of you. Hang in there we are here for you.
Oh you both can get webcams.

Computers are wonderful things. They can help you stay in touch easier than snail mailing......maybe if you stay in contact that way, exchanging daily stuff about life, exchanging photos now and then.....

I know how you feel. I'm the one who will be moving elsewhere in a few days. I have one friend here whom I will miss terribly! We go way back to when my DS was born. That's almost 11 years! I really hesitated to tell her that I was moving. When I told her, she got teary, gave me a hug, and said I needed to do it. She knows I've been pretty sad here and need something new. But it's still difficult!

I'm sorry. I know how you feel. I have 2 best friends. One moved to South Carolina this past summer (then her husband left her), and I work with the other one, and he is being transferred to another location. I spent my afternoon crying yesterday.

My sistuh is moving within a year I think. And she is leaving the country. I am so so so happy for she and her DH because this is truly what they want, and I do want them to be happy, but I am sad for me.

We are so fortunate to be in this day and age of email, IM, etc. And as RuttandTuke said, you can go to New York, and I will have a chance to visit somewhere really cool too.

I really like the idea of a monthly package!! Very cool.

When I was in the 8th grade or so my best friend moved to Kansas from Knoxville, TN.

Flash forward over 30 years. We are still best friends. She lives in Boston, I live in Nashville. We have not lived in the same city since I graduated from college, we went to different colleges, she is married with two kids and I am single.

We don't talk daily, but we keep in touch and both consider each other amoung the best friends we ever had.

It can be done, it just takes work. (Since I am single, I am the one who gets to commute! LOL!)
