I'm so proud of us!

Because of working hard, saving, using coupons, etc., my dh and I were able to do something yesterday I didn't think would be possible - we paid cash for a motor vehicle and it was a minivan! I convinced him we could get a great one for used - we got a 2007 fully loaded Dodge Grand Caravan with ony 43,000 miles on it. I negotiated a great price for it and a great price for our 100,000 + mile 2004 Toyota Scion and was able to pay the remainder amount in cash! No interest or finance charges for us. It makes me really happy!

Now it's time to build the savings back up by pretending we have that car payment!

We plan on paying cash for cars in the future. Just put the money aside for yourself, instead of paying a loan company, then plunk it all down when you're ready for the next car.

I'm embarassed to say that it was almost as much as the car itself!

I just put the money that I would have spent on groceries, christmas, birthdays, etc. that I didn't have to bc of coupons, deals, etc. into savings instead! Then I had a budget in mind that I refused to budge on. And although old, the scion was still in pretty good condition so I didn't HAVE to have the motor vehicle right away and could wait for a good deal - this is the thing I would recommend most - don't wait until your car dies so you have some control in the situation!
