Today is the day to register for student housing for the college that my DD is going to next year. It's on a first come, first serve basis starting at 8:30cst. I signed on for her early but when I went to refresh the page, it kicked me out. Now it looks like their server is probably down. :headache:

I finally got one page to open and I've been trying to sign on for over 40 minutes now. I still have the running clock. I opened a new window but when I go to the web page, I get an error message.

DD is in class right now and keeps sending me text messages asking if I got on. She's afraid that she's going to be sleeping in "alternate housing" (hallways and study rooms) next year if I don't get the contract filled out.

i wouldnt worry about it too much-since it sounds like she is an early commit-some students wont get housing contracts done til orientation in the summer-and "alternate housing" usually only lasts a few weeks at most until those students who deposited at more than one college-the ones who end up going home because college isnt there thing or they cant deal with the home sickness ect ect shake out-by mid term everyone usually has a place they belong.

Definitely not worth stressing about.
This isn't like CRT reservations where you have to book it within the first 5 minutes to get a spot.

There were Univ. that we avoided due to the housing issues - San Diego State stands out as does Oregon State.

DS's Freshman year was like that but this, his Sophomore year was the opposite, the school actually closed dorms due to low attendance. The overall economy on the west coast has affected students living on campus who perhaps could live at home or they have opted to go to schools closer to home. DS lives in off campus student housing vs. a dorm. He has a bit more freedom, the ability to cook and is still in the same proximity to the campus as he was in a dorm.

Daughtersrus - hope you got through and got it sorted out.

Daughtersrus - hope you got through and got signed up for a room. They probably had some pretty heavy traffic on the web site if it is a school that has a housing shortage.
