Not cruise related, but wanted to share with people who understand disney obsession. We are staying at AKL prior to our cruise and I was able to book the sunrise safari today. (usually they won't reserve it until 90 days prior to arrival) Yipee - one reservation done - now how do I get the next 260 days to fly by?

Oh don't worry those days seem to have a way of flying by without us even knowing where they went!

Enjoy the anticipation of your vacation.

I guess this is cruise related because it is pre-cruise . . .

I really want to do this the morning of our curise but I wondered if you needed park tickets to participate in the safari.

Congrats on getting your sunrise safari ressies early! Just one questions, what is it?

That's awesome! Congrats! With all the holidays coming up, before you know it you'll be saying "I'm going on to WDW and DCL THIS year" --- not what you may be saying now... "NEXT year!" ;)

Suzanne...I've never done it, but I believe what it is is that you're able to take a tour of the 'backstage' types of things in AKL & AK in the early morning as the animals are 'waking up' -- you learn about the animals, watch them get fed, etc. It's a great way to see all of the animals in a more intimate, closer setting rather than from your balcony at AKL or via Kilamanjaro Safari.

The sunrise safari is similar to the regular one done as a park ride except it's limited to around 30 guests, no poacher story, is about 45 minutes long, and is done around 7:00 AM before the park officially opens so there's some "behind the scene" advantages. A breakfast at Tucker House follows the safari. The cost is $49.95/person. The guide gives lots of information, animal stories. and the photo opportunities (because of the length of the ride) are greater than when going on the AK park ride.

You do need theme park admission tickets to book the safari, so it's not something to do unless you have a full day or your park tickets would be wasted. . You also have to be staying at AKL conceirge to book it.

This will be our first time enjoying it, but there have been wonderful comments about it on the other boards.
