Despite intensive searching, I humbly ask your help:

what counter services serve BREAKFAST?

In the past, we have used our TS's to do the character breakfasts, and our CS's in whatever park we happened to find ourselves in. That method usually works well for my group. However, my DM wants to do CRT for dinner, and its throwing my planning out of wack a bit. I am thinking of doing nice sit down TS's for dinner, *IF* I can find nice, substantial breakfast situations for CS.

second query:

I have read often about "making the best use of" the DDP. What IS the "best" utilization? I'm starting to feel that the info is some sort of 007 code!
I've only done the DDP once before, in 2005, and my goal was ADR, ADR, ADR, and NOT paying out of pocket. I would love to hear some of your tips on this.

All resort CS. Check menus for park CS.

All resort CS places have a Big Breakfast platter: eggs, potatoes, bread and meat. Usually breakfast includes 2 drinks. This meal can be easily shared.

Some think saving the most $ is the best use of DP. I don't subscribe to that characterization. Best to me is getting your family enough to eat and having some unique experiences in the process. It would not be my plan to spend OOP dollars.

Menus are actually at allearsnet.com.

I don't think there's any magical way to maximize the DDP though, generally, dinners are more expensive than lunch or breakfast. But Disney has inflated the prices to such a degree that it's nearly impossible not to come out ahead.

Oh, check out the snack sticky thread in the DDP forum because snacks are one piece that can be maximized. It's fun place to plan yumminess!

I could help a little, if I knew where you were planning on being at breakfast time. All the resorts have some option - except it's a bit tricky at the boardwalk area, you'd be limited to grab and go or pastries (oh how awful, a nice cinnamon roll, the horrors...)

Food courts will have breakfast. Sunshine Seasons in the Land pavillion at Epcot has a great assortment for everyone for breakfast.

Also, it seems there are lots of substantial snacks that you could have for breakfast - I heard of a quiche in Epcot (is it France?) that is a snack credit, but I may be wrong. I think also in Main Street at the Magic Kingdom there are areas to get a great snack that would be a filling breakfast.

Check out the snack thread and see!

aren't a lot of options for breakfast TS in the parks. In the MK Main Street Bakery has breakfast sandwiches and a french loaf roll. Starring Rolls in DHS also has breakfast sandwiches. Sunshine Seasons in Epcot has actual sit down breakfasts.

Generally we grab items at the resort CS and take in some snacks that we have on hand in case we get hungry. We usually just do croissants or beignets and grab an early TS lunch.

Where are you staying? When we did the DDP we stayed at POP and usually had counter service at the food court for breakfast. We would use the TS for dinner and used our snack credits to keep us going in between. Some days we changed things a little but that basic plan worked well for us.

Yea, it's www.allears.net

I've heard good things about CS breakfast at the Main Street Bakery in MK. You get 2 items (say...a cinnamon roll and french toast loaf) and a drink. If you use a snack credit to buy another drink, that's 2 breakfasts for 1 snack credit and 1 CS credit. That's also an example of how you can "maximize" the dining plan. I've read reports of other people getting a double cheeseburger and using a snack credit for an extra bun to do the same thing at lunch time.

I've never gotten a breakfast platter at a resort, but I've also heard that they can be shared. Many people don't even use a CS credit for breakfast, there are several options for a snack credit (bagel, indiv. cereal, parfait, etc.)

Another way to "maximize" the value is to use your TS credit at the most expensive places or at a buffet. I wouldn't necessarily recommend just eating at the most expensive places just so you can add up the receipts at the end of your vacation to see how much it "saved" you. It's all relative because if you were paying OOP you wouldn't have been eating at those places. But to each his own..

Without being too wordy, let me try to characterize our disney experience:

I am travelling with my two DD's, mom and grandmom. they usually leave ALL the planning/adr's to me. *i'm so sad about this! 'lol'*

In past visits, we did almost all of the character breakfasts, which use a TS credit. On occasion, we would use a TS for dinner. The majority of time, however, we would simply eat a snack halfway thru the day, and grab some food at a CS in whatever park we had planned for that day for dinner. I guess the kids, mom and I are so consumed with the rides that we dont give a LOT of focus to the food. (the food porn threads are quickly changing that for me! :scared1: )

Having done most of these experiences however, it isnt imperative that we repeat a lot of them. We were not able to get ADR's for CRT before, but were fortunate enough to snag one on this trip. NOW DM and I are back and forth about doing the breakfast OR the dinner. *sigh* In any case, thats 2TS.

My objective is to utilize the CS for breakfast since I dont have to do the characters, and experience some of the nicer resturants for dinner on the TS.

I did, and subscribed. Those photos were AMAZING!!! :lovestruc The only objection here is that (A) my family are big breakfast eaters (and frankly, we need it for all the walking we do!), and (B) the mojority of the snacks were sweet yumminess, but hardly healthy. We are more of the waffles/pancakes/grits/eggs/bacon or sausage/orange juice variety.

It is my understanding that there is no food court at GF? I will check out the MK Main st. It sounds interesting. As described above, though, I am wondering/concerned that any of the options would be filling enough. I guess I could bump up the lunch CS credits though as a viable option? Hmm....soooooo many heart WRENCHING decisions!!!

BREAKFAST SANDWICHES!?!?!? THIS COULD BE DOABLE!!!:cool1: Would Sunshine Seasons be a CS, per chance?

its never been about the $$ I saved for me....although it sure is a nice bonus!! :worship: Rather, its about me using that money I "saved" on other stuff, like mickey ears or buying an ice cream here or there OOP. I dont mind paying for the snacks....just dont wanna pay for meals. Isnt that pitiful? 'lol'

would love any feedback!! hope this clarified things a bit.

OT: This would all be so much easier on the DxDP.....but even with the opportunity to do a lot of the signature restuarants AND character breakfasts, I cant justify to myself a $900 upgrade to an already $4816 Disney tab. Its crazy how there arent 'quite" enough credits on the DDP to be "comfortable" (although on the last day of prior trip, we raided POR for major snacks to take home), and way too many on the DxDP, which would be wasteful. (although I did manage to find out that Private dining for breakfast at the GF would utilize 2 TS, which would go a long way to using some! 'lol')

is a counter service in the building with Soarin'. It looks like a food court with multiple service areas but ahs some of the better counter service food. They have a breakfast platter as well as a breakfast croissant.

allearsnet.com works equally well - try it if you don't believe me. And I am positive it used to be the primary web address. Maybe so many people got confused by having "net" that they changed it. :confused3

You, my internet friend, have just saved me an ENORMOUS amount of stress!!! WOO HOO!!! THANK YOU! :cool1: :wizard:

if you're staying at the GF, you're on the monorail. Take it to the Contemporary...the newly opened Contempo Cafe CS has substantial sounding breakfast platters. Haven't seen any full menus or prices, but if they're like other counter service places, you should be able to get the breakfast platter for a DDP CS. Also on the monorail, the Polynesian has a counter service (Captain Cook) which has both ala carte breakfast items & platters.

The advantage to this plan is if you're using Disney transportation, after eating at the other monorail resort, you just hop back on the monorail to get to the park you were going to...or catch the park bus from the resort you're eating at if you're going to a non-monorail park. If you wait until you get to the parks for breakfast, you may be really rumbly in the tumbly as Pooh would say!

I heart allears! Contempo Cafe:
Breakfast

Oatmeal or Grits

Waffles - topped with bananas and salted caramel

Grilled Ham, Egg and Cheddar Sandwich

Bounty Platter - scrambled eggs, bacon, turkey sausage, breakfast potatoes, biscuit and french toast

Adult Breakfast Platter - scrambled eggs, bacon, turkey sausage, breakfast potatoes and bisuit

French Toast - with bacon and turkey sausage

Breakfast Burrito - scrambled eggs with chorizo, potatoes, cheddar, cilantro, charred tomato salsa and black beans.

Sides: Bacon, Turkey Sausage, Scrambled Eggs, Biscuit, Potatoes

NIRVANA!

I guess I would have to find out upon arrival if I could
*add a waffle to the platters, or
*the kids could ala carte the waffle, grits and bacon with juice on a CS

I've been there for breakfast. Pretty much the same menu as Captain Cook's except not Tonga toast and they do have smoothies. Not worth a special trip for breakfast, IMO. The breakfast IS pretty standardized at all resort locations - I have had that bounty platter everywhere we've ever stayed, I think.

really? thats kind of a bummer. My last visit was in 2005; maybe i didnt pay a lot of attention to the food because we were playing with the characters? Seems like there was more variety, but I could be wrong. :confused3
