I was thinking that I might go over to the mall and do a "flash mob" by myself to demonstrate my superior dance moves .... or I could post here and ask if anyone has a recommendation for a Disneyland hotel (California People!) ... I will be there in July.

Help for either item would be appreciated ...

I would skip the solo flashmob. If you try it, they may not let you out in time for your July trip... :rotfl2:

What are you looking for in a hotel?

I've stayed a couple of times at the Hojo and really enjoyed it but some think the walk is a bit too far (it is less than 10 minutes to the gate).

I hadn't thought about being put away for "evaluation" .... :rotfl:

I'm looking 3 to 3.5 stars in a $100 - $120 price range for a hotel nearby.

Thanks!

Grand Californian. We love the back entrance into DCA. Of all the times I have been to DL have never stayed at the DLH, so we are staying there this Feb to check out the new rooms and the uber cool monorail pool slide!!:hippie:

We stayed at the Carousel Inn & Suites in September and they were pretty good, and right across the street from DL.
Continental breakfast was included (regular fare of toast, bagels, cereal, etc, but they also had donuts, danishes, and hard boiled eggs too, and of course coffee, juice, milk)

The rooms were nice too, plantation shutters, our room had laminate flooring.
The only downside was that one of our matresses felt like it was "giving" away on one side and my daughter ended up rolling out of bed one night because of it. But we told the staff when we left and they were very apologetic.

They have 2 computers in the lobby for internet access if you need to check email, look stuff up, etc.

I have also heard that park place inn is really nice too, not sure on the prices there.

great to get ideas we are looking at going next september.

We reserved a room at the Howard Johnsons and emailed the manager saying we had heard about the hotel on Mousesavers. He further discounted the room and put us on the top floor with a small balcony overooking Disneyland. We could see the fireworks from the comfort of our room. It was a very large room with a small fridge. There isn't a restaurant onsite, at least there wasn't one when we were there but there are plenty nearby and about as long a walk to the parks as if you were staying in a non-preferred room at an All-Star!

I always recommend this one to folks going to Disneyland.

We stayed at the HJ once but it was only for one night and just DH and I, It was alright but we did not get back front he park till 12pm and then were up at 7am to go to our port for a cruise (non-disney!) the bed was good, it was clean and a bit of a walk (if you have kids especially) but we just stopped at McDonalds for a rest on the way back!

We have also stayed at la Quinta Inn, it was older, but clean we had a suite ( 2 rooms and a common living area) it was cheap and we just used the bus system, As it was a little far to walk with 2 little ones. Breakfast was great, and the pool wasn't to bad.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites -- loved it. Free breakfast, and a happy hour. Pool was crazy crowded and windy, but the shuttle service to DL was great.

Another vote for the Candy Cane Inn. Cute little motel (very clean), quick easy walk to the parks (though they do have a shuttle) and my dd's enjoyed the pool. The breakfast was quite good though a little crowded for seating, you are better off taking food to your room. They also will store your luggage for you after you check out so you can go enjoy some last minute time at the parks.:thumbsup2

Love to see your flash mob Ted!:cool1:

We are going in Feb. and I think I've narrowed it down to Hojo, Park Vue Inn and maybe Candy Cane Inn. Our neighbours have stayed at Hojo a couple of times and really like it. Park Vue has breakfast and an evening snack plus is right across the street from the DL entrance.

I liked the Best Western Park Place Inn.

It's right across the street from the entrance. IHOP is next door and there are also some places to pick up some grocery items (I had to find some Lactaid milk for my niece).

The rooms are quite large with a fridge and microwave. We had a king sized bed and sofa bed in our room. They also have rooms with 2 queen beds and the sofa bed.

BWPPI offers a continental buffet with the same items listed by the pp. You can also go to the restaurant downstairs and get a hot meal instead, but it doesn't include a drink-so you would have to pay for one if you want one.

They stored our luggage at the front desk so we could enjoy the parks for a few hours before taking the bus back to the airport.

I just was looking at some places myself as I was thinking of heading back to DL this year. BWPPI still seems to have great prices, I'll have to see if my TA can get me better than what I have found online.

Last time I was looking at going to DL I told her 3 or 4 places I wanted to stay at and I wanted the kids fly free promo and she was even able to get the 4th night free at BWPPI. So I'm hoping she can get me some more good deals this time.

IHOP also has a kid's eat free after (I think it's 4pm) with an adult entree. I did that a few times when we were there in 2007.

Alright .... I've booked the Red Lion, nearly Disneyland for $67 a night, so that's done. Now for my next question ... where can I book a hotel on the Pacific Ocean (near Disneyland, but on the Ocean) to dip my Atlantic Canadian feet in?

Wow that is a great deal! How'd you get such a great rate? I was looking at the Red Lion for Feb. and found a CAA rate of $99 which includes breakfast buffet for everyone in the party.

Sorry no advice on an ocean side hotel. Will you have a car? It isn't that far to any of the beaches from Anaheim.

I've used the website lastminutetravel.com and matched the photos before I reserved ... then sure enough ... Red Lion. So search Anaheim and look

I booked 4 nights .... and with taxes etc it came to $330.

Here's the reservation .... I've highlighted the cancellation Policy because I'm not sure what it means ... I never cancel anything. If you find something that you cant match what hotel it corresponds to, them PM me and I'll figure it out!

I've seen similar cancellation policies. They are not that uncommon in resort areas. So either have really good trip insurance, or make sure you do any changes or cancellations more than 3 days before you arrive.

Thanks minnie mum! Also, I just booked (NOT BECAUSE I'M IMPULSIVE ... :) But because SaskDisNut suggested I say in Anaheim, so I could drive to the beach (Practicing for what I will tell the wife)

I booked the Embassy Suites Anaheim-North, 2 night 4 people, 246.76 USD total breakfast in for an additional 2 nights ... had to change things up!
