I'm SHOCKED!

teh fact that people abuse the GAC is absolutely disgusting to me....I have been to disneyworld with a family who has 5 kids and 2 have special needs...one is autistic and one has CP....after spending 10 days in Disney wit them, i know that they would have traded the GAC with anyone just to be able to stand in line and not have to worry about what would happen with their kids....but i was truly amazed at the amount of stares we got form ppl at rides adn shows b/c they thought that we had "gone to the front of the line"....it sickens me with the way ppl act sometimes

All I can say to people who do horrible things like that....Karma , look out for Karma.:sad2:

when you go to Disney you'll get to go to the front of the line.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard that comment since my husband was injured last July and is now a parapelgic. My reply is really, you think going to the front of a Disney line is more important than walking, being able to pee and poop on your own and having sex????? That usually shuts them up!

Some people are rude, some are ignorant, fortunately they are the minority.

I usually just read through the forums and don't say anything but I had to comment on this post. I'm thankful for all of you wonderful Dis'ers out there. For those of you who are aware of the people who take advantage of the system and are willing to say something. Trust me, there are families who truly appreciate it.
:thumbsup2

I went to 5th grade camp with my son a few weeks ago and they did the neatest thing at every meal. There is a sign over the exit door that reads "I'm Third". What is means is that you put God and others before you. One child is picked at each meal from all that are nominated for putting others first to flip the sign and on the back is reads "Make a Difference". I was so pleased to see so many kids nominating others for the good things being done. Each person can make a difference and putting others first is such an easy thing to do!

Sorry I didn't share any sad stories, but I am very understanding of those who have disabilities. I work in long term care and it's not just the old in nursing homes any longer. I make sure my kids go with me at least twice a year to a nursing home to see how fortunate our extended family is. This is a great way for my kids to understand that people with physical, mental or emotional dissabilities are really just the same as us, but they have a little more to deal with in life. My kids now don't think twice about talking with someone who is an amputee in a wheelchair or someone with an oxygen canual, or a quad. They just know they need this equipment to support them.

I love the story earlier about the dentist office :lmao: I believe in Karma....
