I'm seriously put off Harry Potter

I'm sorry you feel that way. I wouldn't base my decision on going just from hearing a podcast though. I understand everyone says it is small, and crowded. I know that going in. And I still can't wait to see it all. Good luck to you and maybe you will come around before your trip.

My family and I were all getting ready for the magical experience of The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter. Having read all the books myself, I was really looking forward to it. But then, when we heard Pete & co.'s review of it, we were all agreeing that this would be one to miss when we go in October.

The theming, the shops incorporating that factor, and the whole visual aspect of the place sounded great, but to fight through all those crowds;to fight through hundreds of very hot people just to get to a ride which you have to spend a whole day waiting in line for, didn't seem right.

We were all looking forward to a brilliant trip to Universal, but this review by The Dis just reminded me of one thing- Universal just doesn't have the magic that Disney does.
Here we have a family that was anticipating this great experience, but who now just want to go to Gatorland!

:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

No offense, but I don't take these posts seriously. In most cases, you're only here to get a rise out of someone because you know this is the Universal side of the board. Trust me, Disney couldn't even get the bugs worked out of 1 slightly refurbished ride (Space Mountain) in a timely fashion, which led to 2+ hour wait times when we were there last December.

Disney would have built a crappy ride with bad animatronics that my 4 year old would have slept through and called it "cutting edge".

Dang it, I've foolishly been posting positive things about WWoHP. Thankfully the trolls...er, posters...haven't noticed, so from now on I'm going to post only horrible, horrible things. People seem inordinately ready to believe the bad stuff so with any luck that will keep 'em away so as a local I can enjoy it crowd free.

If you guys are so sure that this is a troll post, why even bother posting back? Are you adults or what?

OP could be a little put off by what they've heard about HP which could endanger their trip there maybe causing a bit of jealousy to those that are going or have been there already. They are Potter fans after all, why wouldn't they want to see WWOHP?

Give them a break or don't even reply. My 2 cents....

Pete's review was annoying and inconsistent anyway. He was upset that (1) it was only a two hour preview instead of what most people thought they were paying for and (2) that he couldn't ride the ride. That colored the entire review. Then at one point he talked about how great the theming was, but its no credit to Universal because they didn't build it. Then 20 minutes later when he's complaining about the requirements to ride, he blasts Universal for building a ride that only fit certain people. So they built the ride and that's ALL them, but the rest, well they had nothing to do with that. Just the part that grumpy Pete didn't like.

Honestly, it may be childish but if I end up being too big for FJ I will bash the crap outta Universal. Pete's review might have been jaded, but he still made his points with his fellows agreeing with him. He admitted the theming was excellent, but the management is awful. They don't have anything to do with each other.

Nobody else in the podcast seemed to have a particularly strong opinion on anything. He said the theming was excellent, while saying that Universal had nothing to do with it, then later blasted Universal for the size of the ride seats. Go back and listen if you don't believe me. The point is, his opinion shouldn't be taken so seriously just because he has a podcast. He was biased.

Even if every review I read was awful...I'd still go and form my own personal opinion. I always take reviews with a grain of salt. If a movie gets horrible reviews and it's one I want to see, I go and see it anyway.

I can understand the disappointments and frustrations of those not able to ride do to size limitations, but I'm also the type that would trim down a little in order to have a better chance at getting on. No offense meant, I'm just OCD like that!

Thats not necessarily true, the Narnia and Prince Caspian attractions at WDW didn't have bad animatronics. Imagine what they could have done with WWOHP. I bet the attraction would have at least encompassed several hundred square feet.

I hate everything, and spend my time telling others that I do. It just doesn't have the magic of nothing. Nothing is much better.

Disney Magic, huh? Guess they should have used a little of that when they designed Expedition Everest. Who puts a "state of the art" animatronic in the middle of a ride with no means to fix it when it breaks down (or cracked the foundation or whatever the deal is now)? :lmao:

I put off going to US/IOA last week when we were in Orlando, but that's because it was the beginning of June. To me, the price was too high from what we paid last year to warrant the trip.

But October is a different thing altogether. I think the lines will not be quite as long. I think the prices should be lower then (or US/IOA should be running specials.) I think it might be fun going.

But personally, I don't care to ride HP. I'm not a fan at all and therefore refuse to pay premium for something that doesn't interests me. All I care about is that if the ride's fun. Looking at Youtube makes it look OK, but kinda like Dinosaur.

Sounds funny, but I really wanna go so I can ride The Simpsons and ROTM again.

Well, I differ in that I cannot wait to ride FJ. However, I thought Spiderman was the best ride at both parks-until I rode Simpsons so gotta agree with you that Simpsons is my must do now. At least for the time being. I still have to try HRRR and FJ.

If I may paraphrase a from quote Homer Simpson from one of my favorite episodes, "The difference between FJ and the Simpsons ride is the difference between champagne and carbonated pee."

(In other words, if you like the Simpsons ride, you'll ADORE FJ because of its unquestioned superiority in every way.)

And to think all this time I have been content with "carbonated pee" Can't wait to try the champagne. No, wait, just forgot I don't drink alchol. Oh well, then again I dont drink pee either, lol

I haven't read all of the responses but did you really expect it to be uncrowded? It's good that you listened to the review then because I'd hate for you to be surprised.

As for the 'magic', I've said it before but I'll say it again. Magic is in the eyes of the beholder and trust me, we see this differently.

Checking in with an opinion of 4! We just got back and you want magic?
Stand in the middle of the " road" at WWOHP and just take it all in. Beautiful and wonderful and amazing and enchanting and everytime I turned around there was something new to see.
I feel very blessed to have been to 5 days of previews..but I can say that if I could go back in a few weeks to fight the crowds I would!!
When I walked in to WWOHP I cried , not sobbing, but tears of joy and relief..like those tears you cry at a wedding. I was so happy to be able to provide this trip , and the memories of it to last forever, to my family.
Yeah, the seats don't fit anyone...but that one issue is not enough to destroy the whole theming and the " feel" that you are actually walking in a movie set.
Okay, I am done being sentimental and all...must be Butterbeer withdrawl.

That's the part I had trouble with. I don't blame Pete for being disappointed that he couldn't ride or for thinking that the people who purchased packages should have gotten more. However, I thought that blaming Universal for everything that annoys you while giving them none of the credit for what you like seems a little much.

Plus it puts anything that Disny had done to shame...seriously! This place is themed to the max.

I went to Mythos, even after reading some bad reviews on other sites and some good ones here, because while someone else's opinion may be interesting, a lot of it is also based on just that..OPINION. There is no right and wrong one. It's all subjective. I believe in forming my own opinions based on doing it...not reading about it.

Now, if someone said they saw roaches at Mythos..or the walls of FJ came crashing down on them ...well, that would be different. It may make some small ( or HUGE ) change in any plans I had.

Please remember that name calling is not acceptable in any posts and that includes calling or inferring that someone is a troll. There can be difference of opinions without resorting to belittling or name calling. This is a request to everyone to edit or delete your own posts if it crosses that line.

Go. I went last week and enjoyed it. I had so much fun.

At the same time I can see exactly what Pete was talking about. They should have just taken over all of Lost Continent. They should have considered the seat size before they opened the ride. I hope that these issues will be corrected.:) The packages were unfair to everyone.
