I wanted to start reading here just out of curiosity but I had to stop because it may force me to admit to myself that I spend too much money! I'm scared! Has anyone else here felt that way?

There are some serious savers on the budget board- for sure. Makes me feel like I could be doing so much more to save than I am! I do get great ideas and tips here though, even if I feel a bit inadequate at times! I'm not the best with budgeting either, but I am a cheapskate so I'll keep looking for ways to save.
Keep reading, it may rub off on you!

WARNING: The Budget Board can actually cost you money! You will start reading about everyone's great bargains and you'll think, "Wow. For that price, I need it too."

You have been warned. ;)

To everything that has already been said:

1. I feel unworthy because I am not the saver that other posters are.
2. I have learned from reading other posts.
3. I have spent money I normally wouldn't have after reading about "deals" on here. :rolleyes1

Naw! They dont scare me. Some of them made serious budget cuts that I wont even consider. Some do it out of necessity. Others are just frugal to the core. And then there are a few that I suspect are just stretching the truth. Read for the great budget tips and ignore the rest if it bothers you.

This. I always spend more money when I visit the Budget Board buying stuff on deals that I didn't need.

Stay away from Slickdeals - you won't buy anything w/o thinking, "maybe I could get a better deal," or "shoot, I could of gotten this cheaper." :rotfl2:

Yup! Me too!

I will say that doing the no buy thread on the budget board has changed everything for me. Writing down everything you spend will keep you honest and save you money. For me, its not about how many no buy days I have every month, its about staying under budget, and that thread helps me do it.

Also, the budget board has pointed me toward grocery shopping and couponing sites that have saved me about $1500 this year already.

I love the budget board even tho I am not a super saver like some here.

Every morning I start with wootdotcom, slickdealsdotcom and the Budget Board to see where the best deals are. This site is addictive and has definitely cost me more than I've saved!!

LOL! When I read the posters that have no mortgage, no car payments, about 150 gagillion dollars in savings before they would ever, ever even consider going on a vacation, I just laugh. I don't compare myself to others and I am comfortable with the way our family lives.

I only really read the budget board for things like American Girl shipping codes! :goodvibes

This. Take what you want, leave what you don't. :thumbsup2

Lmao, I always spend more, because I'm buying things I didn't plan on buying. But goshdarnit, I got a good deal! :lmao:

I would add to that,

4) Take every thing here and on any internet forum with a grain of salt. People here love Dave Ramsey, none of his advice worked for me. :confused3
Lot's of folks here don't use credit cards, I've happily been using mine for over 40 years, it's part of my financial picture.

Basically you've got to filter through the information and apply what works for you.

"anything" is a bit unfair. For large purchases, there is nothing wrong with doing a few minutes research on Slickdeals. But the basic way to save on big purchases is to check every major store's website that sells what you want. You then go there, or print out the page for a price match, which most major chains do.

I hear you libraryfreak! Slickdeals and Woot are killers on the budget! Oh, and cheapcheapcheap.com. Another bad one!:lmao:

My husband said once "We can't afford to save this much money":thumbsup2

LMAO You're such an enabler. I just checked out cheapcheapcheap!:headache: I don't need another deal website!! ;)

My name is Mrs. Charming, and I have a bargain problem...

You have lots of company girlfriend!;)

You CAN end up spending more money here but consider these two things:

1. I won a trip to Hawaii because of these boards.
2. I earned about $450 doing online video reviews because of this board.

The cash came when I was at a low and had bills paid, but no extra spare cash and mad money for a planned vacation. I can tell you, THAT was fun.

And let's face it, it is fun being here during Woot-offs.
