I'm sure most of you know about the extended refurbishment of Teppanyaki (or what ever it is called now). If you didn't, sorry to be the bearer of bad news- they will not be open to at least the 15th of September.

Anyway, this got me thinking... Perhaps there are enough dining "CS" or stands around the world to not need a full sit down meal at all? :confused3We are traveling with a 3, 6 and 10 year old. We were planning to "snack" at each country... but can we take it further so that in the end everyone is full?Ever done it?

Sis does bring up one good point, last thing we need is too much mixing in heat with the kids...:crazy2:

Thanks for the help in advance!

til the 15th??????????????????????????? Are you sure?

oh dear, this really blows, because the 15th is our last day.. and I know it will be crowded there.

Where did you hear that from? On here it says:

"Japan's Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki and Matsu No Ma Lounge & Tempura Kiku to close for refurbishment from now thru 08/20/07"

I have been on the phone 3 times today- twice they said that it wouldn't be open until the 16th and once said that they were booked!!! :confused3

The 15th is my last day too!! :guilty: I had ADR's here for the 11th! If you call can you let us know what you found out? Thanks!

Oh I just saw the other thread about this.. whoops.

I usually go to the lounge in Japan.... so man, I dont know what will be open.

My ds and I have (had? lol) a ressie there during free dining. I can't remember the date now (don't have my spreadsheet open), but it is during the time of the extended refurb.

I am just going to do 1 or 2 CS around WS (and maybe a snack or 2) instead. Granted, there are just two of us, but I figure we can wing it.

We already had too many TS scheduled, and I am actually going to cancel one more and use those two credits (teppanyaki and WCC) for Brown Derby (I was going to pay OOP for that), and make better use of our CS. I was planning on just using CS for breakfasts and a lunch here and there, but I think I will do a grocery delivery for breakfast (and waters and some beer for me) - since we are staying at SSR in a 1 bedroom - may as well use the kitchen a little lol. So, this will result in less OOP for me. Which is good.

But, this trip is less about food, more about park time with DS and I bonding. So, it works out!

Honestly, we've never eating at a TS in World Showcase. We usually get some CS food from either Mexico, the UK, or America. You can snack your way through easily. Try not to worry too much! :goodvibes

It's very easy to fill up on the counter service!

The fish and chips in the UK are great -- and very, very filling. If you want to try multiple items, I'd suggest sandwiches and pastry from Norway or anything from the patisserie in France. For something more exotic, Morocco has a great counter service option. The US has pretty standard fare. The only things we tend to avoid are China and Germany -- both counter service options are good on their own, but the food is kinda heavy and doesn't mix well. As we like to graze our way around, we tend to avoid those options.

We always snack our way around the world and everyone ends up full. Here are our favorites
Mexico - nachos, churros
Norway - popcorn - many posts get pastries here, also
China - egg rolls, sometimes kids meal with rice
Germany - pretzels
America - burgers, hot dogs, fries, popcorn - this is where the kids fill in any holes they may have, but not too much because coming up is
Japan - sno-cones
Morocco (only Dad gets beer here)
France - best baguettes - kids love to pull pieces as we go around the world and cheesecake is really good and creamy, also eclairs
UK - fish & chips
Canada - bear claws
