I hate watching Canadian broadcasting stations. They're pieces of crap, they don't give a crap about their own shows, and will just let other stupid shows take over...
It pisses the hell right out of me. Apparently, Degrassi isn't being aired because if the Writers Strike lasts a long time, they want to have a 'filler' for people to watch. It's sad that they can't even respect their own shows, their original broadcasting. It's pathetic that Nick gets the show two months in advance, and now even longer because the station feels it's priority is it's American television shows. It shouldn't be called CTV. It's not Canadian television. It's just another station that repeats all the shows on ABC.

It's frustrating for these broadcasting companies to claim that they're Canadian, when they show little to no pride in the very few Canadian shows they do put on air.

CTV is the WORST.
THe commercials is like "CTV, Canadian Television"
uuuuuhhh....not really.
the ONLY shows they have that's Canadian are Degrassi, Corner Gas, Etalk & THE NEWS!
It's totally irritating. And they aren't gonna show Degrassi because of a strike that DOESNT EVEN AFFECT IT! That is really stupid. ARRRGH @ CTV.
Family channel's pretty bad too, ALL their programming is AMerican minus like, Life with Derek & Naturally Sadie and those are never on.

CBC's pretty good though, I've gotta hand it to them, they are doing a really good job of keeping most of their programming Canadian (or british. YAY CORRIE ST!)
Much Music is good too, most of their programming is local.

but CTV=GRRR & City TV isn't much better.
It makes me sad as a Canadian that wants to get into that industry.
I'd honestly rather be on a crappy CBC show and support the canadian industry than anything else.

& THere's really not much we can do about it. Writing a letter to CTV will accomplish NADA.
writing to CBC is a different story, but CTV only cares about keeping their American counter-parts happy.

I'm surprised that the Stargate SG-1 series and Stargate Atlantis series aren't on their program list, as both are filmed in Canada. As is the SciFi series Eureka. I know several American shows that are set/filmed in Canada. I believe that the USA Network series The Dead Zone is filmed there as well. Actually, I think most of the shows on the American SciFi Channel are filmed in Canada. As are a good portion of the ones on USA Network, so I don't know why they aren't shown one what I presume to be the major broadcasting network of Canada.

I thought Degrassi was just on their normal winter hiatus?

No. The N premiered it in October, so right now, it's probably on hiatus in the states. We still haven't even seen the first episode (I think it's the one where Darcy & Manny go up to the ski lodge).

CBC makes me happy. They always have lovely movies that feature Canadian actors (like Booky Makes Her Mark, like four people from Degrassi were in that). So does Much Music. It actually PLAYS MUSIC and sticks to the MUSIC theme. They actually deserve to have the words music in their name unlike MTV.

I love Corner Gas, and they can't mess with that because it's on the Comedy Network too, so I'm all set.

But like Caitlin said, you can't just write a letter to a huge company like CTV. It's our ABC, it's huge. It has other stations that deal with certain areas (like ATV, which is Atlantic Canadian Television, shows most oft he same stuff CTV does).

As far as Stargate and that, I think we only have it on the Space channel... it's not like a big thing. A lot of shows are made in Canada, but produced by other companies. I watched a Disney movie today (it's just made by the company) that was filmed and set in like Scarborough (I think).

Oh wow. Y'all haven't even seen the first episode yet? Wow. It's super good. I think the n has it up on their website. Actually, I know they do because I watched it a couple days ago.

The N is an American channel, so when you go on their website, it detects your area, and if you don't live in the States it will say 'This is not available in your area'.

I love Degrassi!
And Life with Derek and Naturally Sadie are some of my favorite shows but their never on anymore :[
Good luck guys!

Those shows are always on my tv. Family refuses to let any show die. They've still got episodes of The Proud Family from like 2001. It's ridiculous. The shows just pile up and they put some of them on at ridiculous times at night, and then maybe after 10 years of repeats they'll get rid of it.
