Im Really Curious

I would be more inclined to find off sight accommodations and get a rental car for freedom.

Staying off property was not an option for me. I already plan on hiring a car, but haven't done so yet. I stayed in a holiday home on a previous trip and it just wasn't the same!

I don't ever think the comparison on who gets the better deal is fair really. It's not like Disney is picking their favourite child to give special treatment to. There marketing is careful and deliberate. They know exactly what they have to offer to get both domestic and foreign customers to make the trip. If they made UK prices equal they'd lose a good portion of what it a large and profitable customer base.
They don't give discounts to be kind to us. They give discounts to hit the exact point at which we're willing to part with our vacation dollars and chose them as the destination. It's economics and marketing, not favouritism.

I like this point. I guess they just know the exact amount of money they are able to extract from each demographic.......

We've booked via Disney UK recently as the prices can be much better than at Disney US (we've got 40% room discount + free dining for our november stay).
I, too, think around USD 7000 is a very good deal for three weeks, I doubt you could spend three weeks anywhere for less money on he same amenity level (I'm not talking Mallorca or the Canaries here ;)).

Many thanks for your reply. You don't sound like a jerk at all. Looking at some of the examples in this thread, in order to get the same deal as a US customer, it would be $000's more. I would be a bit mad too! I honestly didn't realise that this could be the case.....I thought that Disney would be cheaper for US guests. The UK is Orlando's second biggest customer by tourist numbers, behind domestic travellers, but coming from a country where there is a VAT (sales tax) rate of 20%, an earnings tax of around 36% and where an airline can sell a flight to Orlando for £200 ($310) but then has £400 ($620) TAX and charges added to it I thought I would be paying a lot more in comparison

Anyway, now look who is sounding mad
WOW! I was mad when my state raised ours to 6% from 4%, 20% would probably make me feel sick every time I entered a store. Your vacation "savings" are probably all being taxed out of you.

Our trip is November 2013. There are 3 adults and 3 kids no dinning plan we are driving from PA and staying at wilderness lodge for 6 nights. We have 6 day park hoppers and our cost is close to $7000. Yes I could do the trip for a lot less staying offsite or at a value resort but vacation is one thing I splurge on

Sounds like you got a deal. Enjoy your vacation! :goodvibes
btw, totally jealous that you both have 21 days of vacation time off from work, let alone 21 days at Disney! :thumbsup2

OK I managed to get onto Disney's US booking site today and I'm never going to complain about UK pricing ever again. Whichever way I looked at it, it was around a third cheaper in the UK!

:thumbsup2 Sounds like a great deal for 21 days in a studio!
