My husband says I could turn prevaricating into an Olympic sport. :rotfl2:

I know I should be packing as we are leaving in the morning, but it seemed to me to be the ideal time to price up our October holiday. :surfweb:

Anyway I phoned Disney to get a room only price for Cheyenne for 3 nights for an adult & 12 year old (so 2 adults really) and they quoted me £530 :faint:

It is only £481 room only on Expedia.

So we will NOT be staying onsite at this rate. Unless I get an unexpected windfall or there are some massive offers (unlikely in Halloween week) we will be staying somewhere like......

Kyriad £277
Hotel L'Elysee £286
Magic Circus £326
Dream Castle £362

Those last 2 are 4 star hotels, compared to Cheyenne's 2 stars and they also have swimming pools.

I know I have always championed staying onsite in the past because of the old Disney magic, but hecky thump, Disney are pushing thier luck with their prices lately. I know the Euro is high but other hotels in the area have managed to peg their prices.

To return to an old theme (rant?) you have to wonder about the value of APs and Shareholders cards when the hotel discounts are worthless - things are cheaper on Expedia.:sad2:

I know how you feel, onsite with AP was always much cheaper for me, compared with the associated hotels, up til now that is.

My trip next month offsite is costing me around half the Disney Dream AP onsite discount price, and thats comparing the Magic Circus with the Santa Fe :confused3.

Happy planning (and not-packing) anyway ;)

I reckon someone should challenge Disney to see if they will match other companies prices. I think once they realise the difference they may consider altering theirs or at least offer AP & Shareholders a better deal.

Although personally if I had an AP I would more often then not stay offsite as it is usually cheaper & just the same quality.

I am also very disappointed with the AP discounts of late. We were quoted over £2100 for a week at Newport bay in May on the phone to disney the other day, which was about £900 more than on the disney website for the same dates! This was the best price they could give me apparently, and the 35% discount being advertised in the ENVIE+ magazine was not available for any other hotel for these dates (despite being advertised as such), or any other dates nearby (I know, because I spent a good 30 minutes on the phone whilst they were being checked ). We finally found a good rate for Hotel New York (the only decent rate we could find for a hotel with a pool, which is the only thing we truly wanted), but the 40% offer was only valid from Wednesday to Sunday, whereas we wanted a whole week there.
I think that with the only good deals now being the ones offered to the public anyway, that we will not be renewing our AP's in August. The discounts for the shopping now seem to be the only incentive to have them it seems, but the extra savings from offers like the 40% off mean that you can save this difference anyway.
It just seems such a silly move on disney's part, as they have lost out on us being there for another 3 days, which is 3 days of money they're not getting from us for meals etc. Surely with everybody else now being forced into off-site, this is even less money they are taking in from room costs and half-board plans etc?
