...I just booked flights last night to spend Labor Day weekend at Disneyland. Originally my plan was to go later in September after taking a 5-day coastal cruise on the Sapphire Princess from Vancouver to Los Angeles, but some of the friends I was going along with on the trip ended up only being able to get the time off on Labor Day weekend, so for better or for worse, that's when we ended up scheduling the trip. The plan is to fly out on Saturday Morning and fly back on Tuesday evening (so hopefully we'll get at least one less crowded day out of the deal), and to spend Sunday through Tuesday in the parks. We'll be staying offsite in a condo about 15 miles away that one of my friends was able to get use of, which means we'll probably have to wade through the Half Marathon traffic on Sunday.

I have to figure that it probably won't exactly be the most productive of trips in terms of ride quantity, but careful use of Fastpasses should help out, and there's a possibility I might still be able to sneak in a couple of days after the cruise later in the month (which I still have booked,) and in the process maybe even justify picking up an Annual Pass so I can get another trip or two next year out of it.

What could possibly go wrong? (Um, wait, don't answer that...)

My family went to Disneyland/California Adventures on Memorial Day. We thought it was going to be crazy crowded. But it really was not too bad! We had a blast! I am sure you have read this a hundred times, but the key to short lines for the popular rides and grabbing fastpasses to use later, is GET THERE EARLY! On Memorial Day, Disneyland opened at 8 am. We were standing in line by 7:30 am at the turnstiles. Within the first hour, we got so much done. We did several of the rides (Indy, Thunder Mountain, and Matterhorn), and had already pulled fastpasses for Space Mountain and Star Tours. Woo Hoo!:yay:

Have fun and don't worry. You will be fine. You just have to work the program.

Saturday and Sunday are black out days even for the Deluxe pass so you may be pleasantly surprised. Also at least some of the local schools start the week before, so that may keep the crowds down. And just make sure you're there at rope drop - even crowded days start out light before 10 or so.

Just download the marathon route and road closures. We stay on property every year that weekend and yes it is very busy. We are more the 5k crowd :lmao: so check out of the hotel as late as we can when the streets are open again.

School here starts the Wed. after Labor Day (we're 15 miles away)
