The DIS is the all knowing and all seeing!

I can't believe I never knew until today that the Swan and Dolphin were not Disney owned resorts. I always wondered why they seemed so regular hotelish and in my opinion, lacking in Disney theme.

DUH!

Wow, thanks DIS, for always surprising me...can't wait to see what is in store for me next!

IMO, the Swan & Dolphin - even though not as "In-Your-Face-Disney" as the Disney resorts - have their own charm and theming! I never feel the lack of Disney because they do have the Disney gift shops, and Disney character meals, etc. But, they also have some beautiful theming in the rooms and lobbies that isn't Disney related too! I think it's the best of both worlds!

Can someone please explain the carp on top of that building? It's like no dolphin I've ever seen.

We started calling them the "fish and bird" last time we were there.

It is the dolphin fish, not the dolphin whale that is represented by the fish on the roof. I think now they call it Mahi Mahi, at least in restaurants.

That could have been their intention, but it doesn't look anything like a mahi mahi either. It resembles a japanese carp, a koi fish, but I guess that isn't a very good name for a hotel.

All I know is that when my DH and I are at the Boardwalk I make him stand in a certain spot that when taking a photo makes it look like the fish is on top of his head when we get the pic back.
