I'm Not Riding THAT! A Trip With Character! Piper's Wish Trip 3/2-8 - Upd-4/20

Firstly Hope Piper's cough is better !!! Now for that fabulous update !! Do ya know I had NO IDEA there was an actuall WISH Village that is just SOOOOOO incredible !!! Can't wait to hear more !!!!

the village looks cool

and piper will be okay, have to always have the positive thoughts

Okay, slightly more awake now since it is morning and slightly less attacked by the fibro atm! It sounds like you had a pretty smooth arrival, even if you did freak the car rental person out, which was pretty funny! I am looking forward to more of GKTW and everything you did here! I am local and would love to volunteer at GKTW when I am well enough, so am very interested in it even though I will likely not be able to volunteer there for quite some time. Great update!

The village looks fantastic. Bill is always talking about wanting to move to Florida and I told him if we ever did we would have to look into volunteering at GKTW. I am loving your report!!

I am praying for Piper that the cough doesn't turn into anything :grouphug:.

Oh thank you SO much for posting the GKTW pictures as I know very little and it's so cool to "see" a little bit of it!

It sounds amazing so far. I can absolutely understand not wanting to drive a land boat! :rotfl2:

As I mentioned to Jordan, Piper started coughing on the plane on the way to FL. I was hoping it was the canned air, but her cough continued once we were there. My next rationalization was that the pollen, etc in FL is different than what we have here, so maybe it was that. Well, here we are a week later, her cough has gotten worse, and we have an appt with our local family Dr at 11:45 today. I don't think it's gone into pneumonia, but I just don't know, so I want to get it checked out. Any positive thoughts/prayers will be appreciated, and I'll update after her appt, of course. It may be later tonight as she has homebound this evening, but I will def let you guys know what's going on.

:grouphug:

Hope that Piper gets to feeling better quickly! Aidan's pneumonia still isn't clearing up, so we definitely understand about the sick every month thing. I hope it's not pneumonia and that you guys get to stay at home.

Hoping and praying for you guys to have a good and quick Dr apt today! Get better soon Piper!!:hug:

If you wish to visit a family at GKTW, you tell the person at security the name of the family you are visiting. You will be directed to the House of Hearts where there is plenty of parking. Once you enter the House of Hearts, you tell whoever is working the desk the name of the family you are visiting and you will be given directions to their villa.

As for volunteering - go to the website GKTW.com. All the information is there including an application. You do have to go through a background check.

By the way, if you think the families are having fun - you should try volunteering.

Okay, after a wonderful 2 hrs at our local Dr we found out Piper does have pneumonia in her right middle lobe. :( I just got off the phone with Lauren, our wonderful nurse coordinator, and we are headed for Club Med tomorrow. She is looking into getting her a bed at the rehab center off the bat, and if not there, on the central ward (which has window beds instead of those %^$#% chairs! :rotfl2:) Obviously, it isn't what I was hoping to hear, but at least we got through the trip with minimal interference from the CF. I will update as I can, but usually that's pretty scarce! I'll spend the evening tonight packing and hopefully getting all our photos uploaded somewhere to get prints made. If anyone has good suggestions, I'm more than open. The least expensive I've found is winkflash.com, but I haven't heard of anyone using them, so I'm a bit leery. I'll be off and on tonight, but continued positive thoughts and prayers are always appreciated! :grouphug:
