In math the other day, we had to make a timeline of our lives, with important dates on it. For me, two of my dates was when I played T-Ball, and Little League baseball. My math teacher then suggested that I play on the HS team. I told him I should be playing. He then said he is going to talk to the baseball coach about signing me up.

Now, I just rocked out in Little League. I was an AWSOME lead off hitter. (the person who hits first) I must have had like a .450 batting average, (.300 is good), and I stole a TON of bases. In fact, I would get on first base, then steal second and third. In fact if I didn't have cubscouts at the same general time that most of the games were on, we would have won a lot more games. If the league I was in had an all-star team, I would have been on it without a question.

The thing that bothers me though, was that this was in the 5th grade. 4 years ago. I havn't really touched a bat sence. So I can only imagine how rusty I would be. Not to mention I don't think I would be able to hit 80-90 MPH fastballs.

So yeah, have you ever been pushed into something you didn't really have any interest in doing? :confused3

yep i have, in 4th grade every student has to play an intrument, i had no desire to play one. so i took the clarinet. i sucked sooooooooo badly, i was the only kid in the grade who took a band instrument that didn't make the band. i was so bad but i didn't care.

I have been forced 2 do band. I'm pretty good, but I just don't like it all that much. Personally I'd rather do Choir.

I had the same problem. Throughout elementary school and middle school I played softball. I loved it. I was never great, but I never sucked either. But, once I got into high school, I just stopped. Didn't feel like playing anymore really.

Then last year, in my gym class, we played softball. I was awesome. I was better than the girl who's on the softball team (she's an idiot anyway..). Then my gym teacher, who was a softball player throughout high school and college, sort of talked me into trying out mainly because I have a good arm (I throw hard, and I throw fast -- the boys were afraid to catch balls from me). So I went to the first day of try-outs and within 30 minutes, I realized it wasn't for me. I guess I didn't realize how much work it was going to be and all the other girls were so into it, and I just wasn't. I didn't go back after that and I'm fine with it. Softball was something I gave up a while ago and I'd rather play for fun.

So Munky, my advice, at least go to the tryouts. If you get there and realize it's something you really don't want to do, you don't have to go back and at least you'll have the satifaction of knowing that you checked it out. But, if you go and realize that you want to do it, you'll be glad you went..

before I went to private school, I wasn't really a sports person. I played the sports in gym and I was one of the fastest runners, but I didnt play on any actual team. When I got to high school, I went to a private school. Well my school forces freshman and sophmores to play a sport every season. So I had to start 2 sports I had never played before and one that I had played in gym alot and one I had never even heard of. I played field hockey, volleyball, and softball. In field hockey I became one of the best players on the team, in volleyball I am one of the captains, and in softball, Im not too good, but I still love it. So yes I was forced to do something that i wasnt too thrilled to do, but i ended up loving it. The one sport I was not looking forward to the most was field hockey, cuz i had never heard of it and knew nothing about it, but now it is my favorite sport.

Part of the reason I don't play any high school sports is I'm too lazy to do all the conditioning and stuff that goes along with the sport. I'd rather just play basketball or just play football or just play baseball. I'm probably good enough to actually play on all those teams, but I simply don't want to because I don't want to run sprints all practice.

That was part of my problem too. I don't think I realized it was going to be that much work. Besides I'd rather just play on my own time..
