I know it was beautiful flying in:yay:
We are off to chichen itza tomorrow, so excited:cool1:

I have a feeling Internet will be poor from now on:sad:

Today we went it isla mujures, a small island of cancun, we hired a golf cart for the day and drove around, it was a lovely island but was so windy, it was hard to really enjoy though.
Stopped for a drink here:woohoo:

So we leave cancun early with our tour group of only 6, two other Aussies,a Canadian and a Korean, just about to go for dinner and a corona or two.

Looks like a great time at Isla Mujeres.

Enjoy Chichen Itza. We had a blast there.

Sounds like a great start. Looking forward to more whenever you can post. I had to go and look all these places up-this part of the world being foreign to me.

Thanks guys,
So far so good and having an amazing time, so back to TR.
Day 2 of tour, we left cancun and headed to cancun on the bus about a 3hour bus ride, when we arrived in Chichen Itza it was quite hot and busy but as the day progressed the crowds disappeared. I was suitably impressed with the ruins, they are in great condition and the stories behind them are so interesting. Loved every minute here:thumbsup2

From chichen itza we headed to the town of Merida, a small beautiful town which surprisingly was extremely well maintained with some gorgeous architecture, dinner in a fantastic restaurant, and we found happy hour:rolleyes1 so we could two cocktails for the price of one, catch is you must drink both, not one for me and one for hubby, so after four cocktails I was very happy:rolleyes1

Day 3: we headed out for a tour of some cenotes(swimming holes in underground caves) they were stunning, azure blue green clear water. You had to climb down ladders or stairs to get to them and one of them we had to jump off a 4m platform to get in, one might say there was a little sound from my mouth when I jumped:rotfl2:Loved this day, we drove for about 2hours to get to them but it was worth every minute. Then the local transport. Unfortunately the photos don't do it justice

Day 4: long day of travel to our next destination of palenque
And dinner at another fantastic restaurant in the jungle, great food great entertainment.
Day 5(today) we headed to the palenque ruins. OMG I was amazed, these aren't quiet as big as chicen itza, but they are set at the base of a jungle. We were very fortunate that they still allow ou to climb on and in these ruins, I has no idea, my heart was fluttering I was so excited:yay: so in we went in and out of rooms and palaces and tombs, it was just a magical day. Hardly any tourists! Lots and lots of walking up and downstairs huge staircases

Then this afternoon we went to a waterfall, there is some lovely waterfalls around this area, however our guide has recently(we were only her second tour. To go there) found this amazing waterfall In a small village about an hour from palenque. It was just the seven of us, a couple of kids walking through the jungle to get to this, so we swam, had a beer and sat and relaxed for the afternoon, a great way to spend an afternoon after a busy few days.

Tomorrow we head for San christobel A town in the heart of a volcanic region. So far so good, have a great group of people we are travelling with, seeing some amazing things and eating a drinking a fair bit too:rotfl:

Absolutely stunning places you are visiting. I have no idea about any of the places you are seeing so this is such an awesome journey for me too :).

The photos are gorgeous, love the ruins and love the waterfalls and really really love 2 coronas for 2 bucks :rotfl2:

Wow what an amazing journey you are on and you are visiting such beautiful and stunning places. I love the photos!! :yay:

We had 3 nights in Merida and just love that city. We did go to the market; but I really enjoyed looking at the architecture there and the doors....the doors! :goodvibes

Thanks for sharing.

Another fan of Chichen Itza and Merida here. The cenotes and waterfalls look beautiful. How cold was the water?

I just crossed from FB looking at a stunning series of pics of waterfalls in Mexico from a friend who was there last month (her and her hubby did an Intrepid tour)- and here is one of the same waterfalls! Love the colour of the water. Your trip so far sounds great-very inspiring!

Wow, it looks like you are getting to visit some truly spectacular places. It makes me want to visit Mexico as well. Love the pic of the local transport.

wow love the tr so far!! we really want to visit mexico, and these areas specifically, so we really are enjoying this report. thank you :)

Looks like you're having a fabulous time! Glad you loved the cenotes, and how beautiful is that waterfall, wish we'd gone there too!

Thank you all for reading along, unfortunately i cant multi quote on the iPad so please excuse me not replying to you all individually:confused3 but i really love that you are following along.:goodvibes
So Friday saw us leaving Palenque and heading to San Christobel, 8 hours later on the bus, we found our way here. What a beautiful little town. San christobel is very much an old colonial town with lots of spanish influences, considering Spain is my favouritist country in the whole wide world, it was easy to see why I fell in love:goodvibes
Friday night saw us eating some good food and finding a great pub to enjoy a few drinks, Saturday was a tour of some of the indigenous villages, we were expecting a few very small villages but instead we saw a town of over 120000 people, that all live without any government interventions, these villages have their own government, spiritual leaders, laws etc, there is a jail, where you can only be placed for a maximum of three days, surprisingly they have very little crime, (although my sunnies were stolen out of my pocket in church :()we visited the local church where a chicken was sacrificed and we learnt so much of their culture, we visited a local family home and it was really interesting to see just how happy and content they are with their life.
Today we went on a boat ride to an amazing canyon, with wildlife and amazing scenery,
So a few photos:)

Oh wow, another awesome update. I would've adored going to a local family's home, what an experience. Awesome photos.

And Spain is your favourite country, oh I need to hear more. I want Spain to be included in our next trip but I really don't know what the country has to offer us as yet as haven't done any research. You will have to be my go to person on that.

San Cristobel looks wonderful; but that canyon trip looks amazing. Was it a long ride down the river and was there any white water?

I'm enjoying reading about the diversity of your tour. It appears you're getting the main sites as well as a good dose of authentic Mexican culture.
