I'm needing some reassurance about DIS CON

I am so very excited about DIS CON I can hardly wait. The worry however is that this trip will be me with my 4 1/2 year old DD only. Now I spend all day with Emily by myself and she's absolutely pefectly behaved, but I still worry. It's more about me than her. I have for now completed my cancer treatments and should be getting stronger and stronger, and hopefully will feel just great in November, BUT I still worry. I sometimes have back pain and worry about having a bad day and not feeling like doing anything. This will also be our first time to fly alone together. OK fellow DIS CONers reassure me that all will go well!!

Lisa, I keep coming back to your post to post a reply, but I'm not at all certain what would be appropriate. I have not had any one close to me who has went thru treatments that is around your age, therefore I do not know what time frame recovery takes. BUT, this I KNOW, while at DIS CON if you need some help, I'm certain there are many of us that would be in line to help out.

Which resort will you be staying at? What is your arrival date and depart date? What night are you planning on doing the Fantasmic show? By having an idea of these schedules can give others a gage on who could step in and help out should you need some assistance.

I do know some about the treatments and how very tired people are from them. I would absolutely say that you'd need to take a slower pace in touring the parks as well as an afternoon break, and an early bedtime. Gosh, do I sound like your mother? Sorry about that.

You and your DD will come and have a wonderful time with some new wonderful friends.

You will have a great time!

I have been several times just me and a child or two when DH could not go and we have had wonderful trips:) I also hate flying (an understatement) but I just keep thinking about where I'm heading and how nice it will be to arrive quickly.

As far as keeping your strength up plan wisely. I would use a towncar service at the airport like Tiffany because they will help you with your bags. With Mears you are going to have to do that yourself and even with a luggage cart that can be a challenge. I can still see myself traveling with Andrew just before his 4th Bday, walking through the airport with him in the stroller, car seat, my carry on bag, pocketbook, Andrew's goodie bag for the plane... what a sight and exhausting ! LOL Make sure you take breaks everyday and don't get over tired, Andrew and I love our midday swim, he has as much fun in the pool as at the parks :) afterwards we usually rest a little before we head back to the parks.

I have to say I was a tried and true Disney Commando for many years but age and 4 kids caught up to me (not to mention my family threatened never to go to WDW with me again unless I relaxed -lol) so I have discovered it is not always the quantity of rides we go on but more so the quality of the time we spend with our family during the whole Disney experience. Now I’m not saying you won't find me in the front line of the rope drop at park opening, but I have learned to take the time and smell the roses now and then and everyone is happy…

Plus if you are having a bad day and need a rest make sure you tell one of your DIS friends or just call us the big DIS family, we’ll be happy to help out, I’ll be there with my son and he has just turned 5.

Tiger Fan,

This is actually the same worry that I have. I have MS and tend to tire pretty out pretty easy. Dan my ever so wonderful SO with be with me and that is a big help. Just try to take things slow...I actually booked another week at WDW in March so we could take our time. This will be Caitlyn's (she is 3 1/2) and Dan's first trip...they are so excited.

If you would like we would love for you to come over to our resort (Dolphin) for a swim...That way we could watch your DD while you RELAX by the pool. :) I know Caitlyn would enjoy playing with someone her own age. She thinks Dan and I are boring:)

Lisa, I will be there, and if there is ANYTHING I can do for you, PLEASE do not hestitate to ask, either before of during. I will be at the Swan.

Lisa:

Having been through cancer treatments fairly recently, I can understand your fears. There are still some days when I feel I just don't have the energy to even brush my teeth. But the big lesson I have learned is that you need to take things at your own pace and accept that some days will be better than others. In any case, just to reiterate what people have been saying: we will be more than happy to help out any way that we can. All you need to do is ask. We're a big family around here.

Everything will be fine. :) You just wait and see!

Oh, you all are so sweet. You are all making me feel much better. I'm kinda having a bad day, hence the fears about DIS CON. My back is sometimes difficult and I got up wondering, "what if this happens at DIS CON?". I appreciate all the offers to help. I know I could always just turn on Toon Disney and Emily would sit with me all day and watch TV (hey, that's what we've been doing today - LOL). I have also considered renting an ECV from offsite or at least a day or two in the parks if I'm feeling tired. Oh, I know it will all work out, but I really appreciate all the kind words - I am so excited to meet you all.

 Hi Lisa.

I read this earlier, but I was having a busy (I can think of a few other pretty choice words to insert here, but I won't! ;) ) day, so I didn't have time to reply. Sorry.

Like everyone has already said here.....Let us know if we can help! :) I really mean this! I'm not offering to 'be nice'......I mean it! And I know everyone else means it too! :) :) :)

Take it slow and easy...I think sitting and watching toons for a half day~~~or even a whole day!~~~sounds inviting! :)

I have a 3 y/o (he'll be 3 1/2 by then) and I know he can't 'go-go' ALL day, so I'm sure DH and I will be taking turns 'lagging behind'.

Lisa, this should NOT be one of your worries. ;) Lean on us. :) We'll be happy to help. :)

Hi Lisa,

My DH and I will be staying at The Beach Club with our 3 kids (2, 5 and 7). I'm sure they would love to have another playmate! If you need something while we are there or any help or just need some time to relax just let us know.
