I'm lost trying to figure out a strategy

I will keep your strategy in mind, because the rest of my family will want to experience the ride. I can wander through the area while they are riding, it will be fun to explore all the new!
You can go with them on the queue and simply not ride when they assign vehicles. That way you don't miss the inside of the Falcon.

That's actually a great idea. Like a kid swap. Maybe let the cast member know when they are assigning you a group color. That way you can do the interior of the MF with the holochess board. If you're a Star Wars fan, you'll want to see that for sure.

To add onto what others have said, the queue is amazing. It is one of the best themed parts of Galaxy's Edge. I would have been beyond thrilled if it was just a walk through attraction of the Falcon without the ride at the end. If you are a Star Wars fan, go through the queue, and then just before the end, when they assign roles, explain that you do not want to ride.
