A little reshuffling of the ol' kit.

Only thing missing is the word Canon ;)

Just kidding. I have recently been visiting stores and trying out the D90 vs. 50D. Also taking into considerations the lenses available for each. For me, the 50D was much more comfortable to hold...surprising since I have small hands. I anticipate having a similar pile of goodies in a few months....now if I could just decide what lenses I want...

Oh, what a lovely way to lose one's mind, Ed! Congratulations--looking forward to seeing the beautiful shots that the new stuff will help you produce.

Very nice Ed- I know you will be very happy with the new gear. :thumbsup2

Woohoo :cool1: ... I think I kinda lost my mind in a similar fashion a little over month ago. I had two zooms so my D300 got outfitted with an SB600, a 50mm 1.4 prime and a 10.5mm fisheye. WELCOME to the world of lost minds ... its a great place to be .. I know you are gonna love it here !!

That is what I would consider a nice upgrade from a normal "kit"!

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!

so looks like you might be needing a new bag for all those goodies:)

Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement. I've looked at the SIZE of the D300 manual and realized that this is way more camera than I am "pertographer" (daughter-speak). No excuse now for taking lousy photos; any future culls will certainly be due to operator error.

Jan, I did manage to get everything in my Tamrac Pro12, so no new bag, YET, but it was *close* on the 80-200 2.8. Problem now is that I can barely lift the thing! (The bag you and I discussed yesterday is for a friend and I think he's about to pull the Amazon trigger today, so thanks for your input.)

Anyway, again, thank you all. Much appreciated.

~Ed

You are going to love the D300. I upgraded to one in January. It is a lot more camera than the D50, and I have many functions to still figure out. I picked up the Magic Lantern guide and think it is an easier read than the manual. I'm sure you are going to produced great images and I can't wait to see them. :)

Even this Olympus shooter was looking at the D300 at Best Buy for $599. You have to be out of your mind to pass on that deal! It's very tempting!!!

:scared1: :scared1:

I really hope you mean the D200 not the D300---otherwise that was the best deal of the year. Everywhere I have seen the D300 body only it's been at least double that. If you didn't pick one up---you should for that price. ;)

My bad it was the D200 for $599. So it's obvious I know nothing about Nikon! No reason for me to jump ship. The temptation to come over to the dark side was scary! What would I say to the wife? How would I explain it? Now that's SCARY!!!

WOW Ed! You go boy!! What made you change you mind back?

btw,,,,, still LOVIN my D300 (even though I've only used it a few times in the past month).

Very nice Ed!!! Love the lens as well. I would love to have it for hockey pics up here. My lenses just wont cut it. What are you doing with the old equipment?

.

Lucky you! I have my eye on the nikon D90.....just need to save up some more. I would love to have it by summer before swim and dive season starts....but chances are it won't happen!
