I have a freind who lives out of state. She will be coming back to visit with her DH and 4 DDs and they are staying at a local hotel. We are trying to plan something to get all the kids together. She suggested we all go to the pool at the hotel to swim. This would include her family of 6, mine of 4, another family of 4, and 1 single friend.
Would you feel funny about doing this or do you think its ok?

I am just thinking maybe the hotel might not let people who are non guest swim there. If it was me I don't think I would unless I was paying for a room. I wonder what the liability is on people in the pool that are no guest, I would look into that. I would suggest going to someplace like Charlie Horse that wasy the kids can play the games and the adults can chat and catch up on things. Good luck no mattter what you dom hope my opinion helped a bit :D

Why not call the hotel and ask? The worst thing that could happen is that they will say no.

I agree, call the hotel and ask. Just say you will be staying there and wonder if you can have visitors at the pool.

I was thinking exactly what Gail said. I feel really uncomfortable doing this. I suggested we go to Chuck E Cheese and of course I offered my house (before the pool thing ever came up), but one the friends(the single one with no kids) thinks Im crazy.
Calling and asking is a good idea.
Thanks for all the advice.

We had friends visiting from out-of-town a few years ago. The two families were staying at a local hotel with an indoor pool. They invited all of us to swim (and I felt a little funny), but we did join them. We ended up with 8 adults sitting by the pool and 1 adult in the pool with the 8 kids. No one said anything to us.

the hotels in our area offer a daily pass to use their pool. It costs like $3 per person, or $10 per family.....

Like Boos Mom, may hotels here offer a daily pass to swim. Holiday Inn, for example. Indoor pools here are hard to come by.

I think this sounds fun. Go out for pizza after.

herc.

Both of our parents often stay at a local hotel here when they are visiting and at least once during each visit we meet them there and swim. The hotel employees welcome us! They don't seem to mind at all---maybe because they know we pointed our parents in the direction to stay at their hotel and have made $1,000's off of them! ;)

We did this recently when my brother was in town at a nearby hotel. It was his family of 5, and my family of 4. We weren't questioned, there wasn't anyone in the pool but us though. I did feel a little funny, like perhaps I should say something to someone, but again, there wasn't really anyone around to say something to. I guess I might have checked with the front desk. Maybe you can call the hotel, as was suggested?

I wouldn't feel funny about it at all. If I was invited, I would go and have as much fun as possible :)

I wouldn't feel funny about it, either, as long as one party was staying at the hotel and it wasn't crowded. If it was pretty crowded, I might feel funny about it.

There is a hotel in Falmouth that has an indoor water slide, and they do not allow extra visitors. So be sure to check.
