Sorry guys, I need to whine a little. During the past few weeks, my weight loss has practically come to a standstill. Last week I dropped 1/2 lb., but I may have gained that back this week. I've been doing well with exercise, but I guess my problem is sneaking things here and there--a cookie, a couple handfuls of Captain Crunch, and cheating on portions. On a positive note, all the crunches I've been doing is starting to show a little. My tummy seems flatter. Wa, wa, wah. Please kick me in the butt ;) .

172 lbs (1/02)
152 lbs (6/02)
160 lbs (4/03)
154.5 lbs (6/03)
145 lbs (7/18/03 first goal -- yeah right!)

Consider yourself kicked....now let's get back up (yeah, I kick hard and I am sure i knocked you down! LOL!!!) and get going!
My philosophy is "day by day..pound by pound"....take each day as it comes and don't look back....when the day is done, put it and yourself to bed! :)
I know it gets a hard sometimes...heck, each night my dh has to sit and eat chips and con queso....yummy...but none for me.....ugh! His metabolism is like a rocket, so he can...but me...no way....but I do take a chip here and there :)
You are not alone! You can do this....stop punishing yourself and smile! We are all here for you!

It is okay to whine now and then, heck I do all the time....but you have to move forward and be stronger! I know you can do it!!!
And your tummy is going to remind you that exercise is good....it will get smaller and tighter...so keep it up!

Good luck Barb!

I don't think you need any of us to kick you...you are doing a pretty good job of that all by yourself.

Basically, a quick paraphrase of what you just posted is that you have identified the problem.

my problem is sneaking things here and there

So, what's your plan? Have you come up with a plan to avoid this problem? That's all you need, you know--a good plan that you can follow.

You can do this Barb. Go back to weighing and measuring your portions, that will help you a lot. I have to do that every once in a while or my portion size just seems to get larger in proportion to the yummy factor of whatever I am eating :teeth:

I'm really proud of you for recognizing what is happening and taking steps to correct it. I'm very impressed that you are working out regularly, that is my weak area.

Okay, you just motivated to go downstairs and do my WATP. Thank you!

Thanks guys. I went out at lunch and got myself a salad and the latest "People" magazine with Demi Moore on the cover. Although I am extremely envious of her body, I do take a certain pleasure in the fact that she, at age 40, has been seen around town with Ashton Kutcher (25), grinding together on the dance floor and making out in restaurants. How pathetic  ;) . I bet she's had a face lift and a b00b job.

Meeeeooooowwwww. Hissssssssss. :p

tee hee, so you are feeling better, huh?

Barb, I was right there with you. I have been stalled for four weeks myself, so I know how frustrating it can be. I have been talking to a nurse this week and she said that plateaus are typical and they can last for some time. She also said that most people reach a plateau for a month or so and get discouraged and give up, but she said if you hang in there you will be greatly rewarded. So I am hanging in there, I hope you will do the same, and I have kicked up my cardio a little in the hopes of seeing some results and reaping that reward. I have been one pound away from my 25# clippie for a month now and I am more than ready to claim it this week! Make a small change and hopefully you will see results.

YOU CAN DO IT BARB! Now snap back to it -- the 'diet vacation' is over!;)

If you'd like an inspiring challenge to stay on track and 'cheat free' you might want to join some other WISHers and try Vija's Cheat Free Star challenge.

You can read about it HERE.

Hang in there, Barb -

Sounds like you might just be having a case of Spring fever -

That Demi Moore - what a tramp. Ashton is mine, all mine - at least I'm only 39!!

Oh, my hedonistic friend, how I would love to kick you in the butt (insert evil laugh here... mu ha ha ha ha ha ha!) However, my legs will not reach that far, so you are lucky and there will be no muddy footprint to dirty up your pants today! :)

#1. YOU ARE DOING GOOD WITH THE EXERCISE, WOO-HOO!!!

#2. YOUR TUMMY IS GETTING FLATTER THANKS TO THE CRUNCHES!!

#3. LOOK AT THAT AWESOME DROP IN NUMBERS FROM THE START OF YOUR JOURNEY!!!!

#4. I AM TOTALLY PROUD OF YOU FOR ASKING FOR HELP!!!

So, Barb, what is the reason that you are sabotaging yourself? Because the Barb I know wouldn't pop a fistfull of Captain Crunch (when she knows she could save some calories for a drinky poo and a nice meal on the weekend!) Fess up, is there something going on?

Stand in front of the mirror, with your left hand, grab your collar, and with your right hand slap yourself across the face while shouting, "GET AHOLD OF YOURSELF, BARB!!!" Maybe throw some swearing in too...really scare yourself. Or not, I'm just kidding really. ;) I just want you to laugh a little and de-funk yourself. You can do this!!!! I want you to set hour by hour goals for tomorrow. It seems like if you can just get through one day "cheat free", then it is easier to do it again the next day. No more of this mindless junk food eating. Tomorrow is a different day, a fresh start, you are making a new committment to yourself! :)

Not that you can't ever have those things again, but every day that you eat "cleaner" you are a step closer to your goal!!!! That is what keeps me going! All week I have been DREAMING about Mexican food, specifically tangy cold margaritas and a big basket of warm and salty tortilla chips. But I am on a no alcohol challenge and I am not going to go out for Mexican for my cheat meal if I can't toss back some tequila laced beverages! ;) At the end of the day, I feel GREAT knowing I stuck to my plan and I wake up feeling ready to face another day. Just think of how HAPPY you will be knowing you ignored the Captain Crunch and the cookies, how proud you will be for measuring portions, how many calories you will burn running to the bathroom after you drink gallons of water!

You gotta drop and give me 20 for every EXTRA you consume tomorrow, so think about that before it passes your lips! ;)

(Secretly I am selfishly thinking that once you reach your goal and come back to WDW we can run off for a night of eating around the World Showcase, mu ha ha ha ha! So reach that goal early!!!)

Thanks for your kind words, folks. TigH, you cwack me up. DH has been in Philly for a trade show since Sunday. (He comes home today.) I really thought I'd do well while my partner in crime was out of town. Yeah right. Monday kids begged me to go to Friendly's for dinner. Tuesday night my parents came over with a huge pot of meatballs and a big bottle of Merlot, etc., etc.

BUT, I am picking myself up and dusting myself off, and I'm even going to skip weigh in this week so that I won't get too down. Besides, ignorance is bliss!
