I can almost hear the mods cringing as they see this topic, but I'm feeling very argumentative tonight.
Only trouble is I don't know what I want to debate about .

<font color=blueviolet size=4>Ok, I've got one... & please don't take offense to it all you pop music lovers... I know how big of a topic this has been on here lately... (w/the new N Sync album etc.) What actually <b>MAKES</b> a real BAND??? (feel free to change it!) Some of these boy bands really get on my nerves... b/c they aren't really a "band"... they're just a singing group.... some may be able to dance... but that doesn't make them a band. I do think that N Sync is talented, they have good voices & can dance really good... but there are some groups around that just aren't as good....

I don't know if this is a good "debatable" topic... but i tried... hehe

I don't think that anybody is a band unless they can play their own music. That elimanates BSB, N'Cync and mainly all the other boy bands. That also elimatetes Britney and Christina. Thats just my opinion.

I pretty much agree that to be a band, a group needs to play their own instruments. I guess I am a pop music lover, or teeny bopper, or whatever you wanna call it, but that's just what I like. I think that *NSYNC is a very talented singing group, but not a band. They probably could be a band if they wanted, cuz JC plays piano and guitar, Joey sorta plays drums, etc. But if they would rather dance then play instruments, that's cool. Whatever floats their boat.

hmmm...I like all type of music. pop is my favorite..but like I think you shouldnt lip-sync(britney does this alot..actually lots of bands do but she does it more than most) like Nsync...they can dance..they write their own music(most of it) and sing realyl good...thats why they are one of my favorite bands...same with destiny's child and blink 182...they arent milli vanillis..LOL.
also one think that makes a band is there songs...they have to have good cathy songs...but that just IMHO.

<font color=blueviolet size=4>Umm.. Banzai... how are you disagreeing w/me?? I never said that u don't have to play your own instruments!! I totally AGREE w/you!!!! I was just saying that out of all the so-called "boy-bands," N Sync is probably the most talented. I also left out the part about members playing their own instruments for a reason... I didn't wanna start an argument about how maybe Jacob or Ashley of O-Town play the guitar in a song (just an example) may constitute as them playing their own instruments... therefore making them a band... ok.. enough.. haha, i'm confusing myself!! hehe

Bands play music. Pop groups have bands but they aren't a band themselves. Notice at pop concerts how they introduce the "BSB band" or "*Nsync Band." I have been to both of their concerts and have heard this used. The pop groups sing music. Nowadays that doesn't really take much talent, even though many groups do have talent. A band doesn't have to play it's own music but I think they are respected more if they do. The same with a singing group. They don't have to sing their own songs but they are respected more if they do.

Personally, I would never consider *NSYNC a band, even though they are my fav. singers. Like most of the rest of you guys, a band is a group of people who play their own instruments and that the whole band is known-kind of get it? Here's an example: Limp Bizkit- most people know that Fred Durst is the lead singer, but people also know about Wes, DJ Lethal, and all the rest of the band memebers. The same goes for Sugar Ray and Dave Matthews. I'm sure there are some *NSYNC fans who know who plays drums on the CDs and in concert, but most people don't (not that there's anything wrong with knowing that kind of thing!!!)

Britney, Christina, and the other girls are "Female Artists" they will never be a band and they have never claimed to be a band, Mariah has never had a band, never played an instrument and she doesn't take half the flak that most new pop artists do.

I luv all kinds of music. I like rock and pop. I got the new nsync cd and if u look they wrote all of their songs except 2. What makes a band a band. Some bands play instruments. But "pop" groups such as nsync play instruments 2. Their voices r their intruments. A lot of them do play instruments just not for the group. I dont have a problem w/ boy bands, or punk rock bands. I luv them all!!!

Ok!!! I want to get one thing straight! Being a singing roup and Being a band are 100% different thinks. BBMak is a band, they play there own music!! Nsync is a singing group thay don't play there own music. I think that is enough room for both types in music. but the singing groups have been pushing bands out of the way!!!! I"m so sick of boy bands. I don't even listen to a lot of pop, I like country, but you can't seem to get away from the band.!!! AGGGG! there taking over the world. lol!!!! We are all doomed, Doomed I tell you!! Run, hide while you still have a chance. heheheheheh!!!
