Maybe I'm wrong but it seems to me that people are unnecessarily rude.
I was walking my dog last night in the rain and found a kids book bag and folder on the ground. I looked in the book bag and there were several books and the folder had the kids name on it. I decided rather than leaving the books in the rain that I would knock on the nearsest door and ask them if they knew the name on the folder.
Now it was dark out and about 7:30 at night. We live in a nice neighborhood with minimal crime. All the homes in the area are single family and most have school aged children.
I did not think much of ringing the doorbell at the house to see if they had lost the books. I could see a TV on in the front room of the house but got no answer at the door. As I started to walk away I heard a voice coming from the car that was sitting in the drive way. There was a guy sitting in the car in the dark that I did not notice. Now the guy starts yelling at me. Yelling "go away" "what the BLEEP do you want". I begin to explain that I found the books, etc. but he just keeps yelling.
Now, I exchanged some words with him but it amazes me how rude people are.
Here I thought I was trying to do someone a favor and this guys reaction is to become abusive.
Am I over reacting to his response? I didn't think 7:30 was too late to knock on someone's door, it's a safe area.
Who's the jerk here, me or him?
