I'm Hungry...

I've been on a juice fast for 38 days. You don't know hungry. I passed hungry a month ago.

:lmao:

What happens when you start introducing solid food to your system?

I'm a firm believer in not depriving and moderation is the key is with a little more exercise than I would normally do.

I would probably add some vegetables with your dinner with your chili and the salad you are having or some fruit.

I am one of those, if you tell me no more chocolate---within a few days, I'm eating an entire cake. My solution came from someone at the gym. They made chocoate pudding with skim milk and put it in 1/2 cup servings and non fat or fat free (can't remember now) cool whip with sliced strawberries. It came to 90 calories and fixed my cravings and made me feel like I wasn't dieting. Also started putting more veggies and salad on the plate and less meat/casserole. Another requirement for me was walking 30 minutes after dinner with the family.

Since I have hypoclycemia, I have to eat smaller and more time during the day. 1/2 apple with a tsp peanut butter or slices of mozerella cheese, pretzels. I do like the airpop but my air poppers keep burning out :(

Good luck, I am getting ready to join in but in all honesty, waiting until Sept 1. I've always been ok and gained 5 lbs here and there but, I'm 55, that time and the rumors are true. The weight goes up and up and my metabolism seems to go down, down, down.

Try some sugar free Jello, you can even add a little bit of Cool Whip. I find that it is very filling.
I am doing Jenny Craig and it is 'allowed'.

More vegetables??? I am already eating practically nothing but vegetables for that meal. It's got about 3 oz of meat in it and the rest IS vegetables!

I usually eat an apple during the day. At the moment I have one Isagenix shake for a late breakfast/lunch. I mix half a banana and some fresh strawberries in that. I am probably consuming about 800 - 900 calories per day.

It sounds like you aren't consuming enough calories and you do need to add a little bit of carbs/grains into your meals. Generally you shouldn't be consuming less than 1200 calories per day.

Diets do not work. Deprivation does not work.

And I HATE the saying about "Nothing Tastes as Good as Skinny Feels"! This is a lifestyle, NOT a diet! I still have pizza, burgers, fries, and cupcakes in moderation and in correct portions and I still lose plenty of weight and inches. I am not going to live the rest of my life without those foods, so why should I do it while I lose weight?

This bears repeating many times over! I don't 'diet' and I hate that word. I changed my eating habits from absolute junk to healthy and I exercise. I too still have ice cream, pizza, burgers, etc. but like you said, in moderation. I am just about at my goal weight and I consume about 1200 to 1300 calories a day.

Not enough, period. You are noy eating enough, your body will go into starvation mode. You are feeling hungry because you are depriving your body. I am not on a diet but I still LOVE veggie soup and it's great for dieters. I often make a huge pot of veggie soup and eat it for several days, even my DH will eat a couple bowls. It really tastes great and fills you up because of all the liquid.

You can use any veggies you have on hand. The one I made this weekend was the following: I sautee some onion, garlic, celery, carrot, leeks, spinach/swiss chard, grated zucchini. I added 10 cups water, 3 veg. boullion cubes, black pepper and quite a few good shakes of a salt free organic seasoning. Brought it to a boil and threw in a couple handfuls frozen peas and corn, a couple diced potatos and 4 diced garden fresh tomatos. Let it simmer for about 20 min and it tasted amazing. I will often throw in a couple handfuls of grain (quinoa, barley, rice, bulgar ect.). Just allow for longer simmer time to cook the grain, barley will take close to an hour.:stir: I make all kinds of soup, more in the winter but also the summer. In the winter I will make it 2-3 times a week. A favourite around here in the fall is sweet potato and squash.

Wishing you the best:banana:

Just my opinion but saltines and melba toast would make me FEEL deprived which is a ticket to failure for me. I usually buy some really tasty, grainy bread for my carbs OR add beans with fibre and also protein. Protein consumption seems to be a key to feeling full. Some people eat too little. Beans are a great combo food. I get a can of red beans, cook them with some onion and garlic, smash them and add some salsa and cheese for a really tasty and full of fiber/protein meal. If you use low fat(not no fat) cheese, it's very low fat as well. No fat cheese has a rubber/plastic texture so I just can not eat it. I also extend my salad dressing by measuring a serving-2T usually-and mixing it with equal amt of non fat plain yoghurt. Gets in some calcium and gives you a decent amt of dressing. One more thing. Add flavor with things like cinnamon, lemon juice, cumin, basil-thyme-rosemary-oregano-parsley. The flavor of a fresh herb or spice really lifts your spirits and adds nothing to your calorie count. I grow a container garden and bring them in when it gets cold so I have fresh herbs year round.

Why are you limiting your calorie intake to 800-900? 1200 is a healthy count and with a little exersize you will still lose weight. Add 300 calories a day and take a 20 minute walk or do some stretching. Your body will shut down because it thinks you're fasting and it wants to hold fat. I can lose weight on 1500-1800 if I step up my exersize to 4 instead of 3X a week AND the calories are healthy foods, not junk.

That calorie range seems to work for me. I don't eat much during the day, as a matter of fact for most of the first 6 months I ate nothing during the day except two apples, and a mid-day snack of melba toast with a little peanut butter. Then I had my supper of mainly protein and vegetables. I also took 3 PGX tablets before every meal for extra fiber.

After we came back from Cuba I was pretty much in maintenance mode; I had lost about 36 lbs at that point and I was delighted to be able to have more "normal" meals and still maintain my weight loss. Some ladies at work are using Isagenix with good results, so about a month ago I decided to do the 30 day program. I am not seeing the same type of results as they are, but then again I had already lost a substantial amount of weight so it is coming off more slowly. During the last couple of weeks I have modified the Isagenix program to fit me better, dropping down to just one shake mid morning and an apple in the afternoon. I have tremendous will power when I know that I can have my one real meal of the day at dinner time. I've lost another 8 lbs in the last month with this program.

As for cheese, well, my motto is "Life is too short to eat low fat cheese". I would rather have a sprinkle of the real stuff than an ounce of bland cheese.

If you are still hungry after you eat then the calorie range is not working.

I was hungry because I really wanted pizza all weekend and stuck to my program. I had enough food, it just wasn't what I wanted. If a pizza had materialized in front of me I certainly could have found room for it, even though my body didn't need any more food. My mind was hungry for the food I denied myself.

That would be called a craving then, not being hungry.

Regardless, 800-900 calories is not a healthy calorie in-take and could have long term effects when it comes to vitamin deficiency and fat storage. Any respectable doctor will tell you that.
