Wow, what a beautiful country and what fun to visit!! I could easily have stayed another week or two.
Most of our time was based in Lugano, which really felt more like Italy than Switzerland. But for a couple of days, I ran up to a couple of towns near Interlaken in the Alps and explored. I loved both the Ticino / Tessin area (the Italian speaking area around Lugano) and the German speaking area around the Alps.
I had an absolutely fantastic time, got 10 gig of pictures (yes, 10 *GIG*...granted, I was using a camera where each picture is 1-3 meg, but still...
), and would go back in an instant. And for those remembering me asking, yes I did end up traveling alone for 24 hours and had absolutely no problem at all and would do it again in an instant in Switzerland.
I wasn't really too impressed with what little we saw of Italy, but that was really just the drive from Lugano to Milan and the airport in Milan, and I highly suspect we didn't get to see the best Italy has to offer.
My mom and I are already planning to go back in maybe 2 years since she didn't get to go.
I'll share some pictures and more details later. Right now, I'm still fighting jet lag.
