Just arrived yesterday afternoon for our first 2 nights at POR. We have a 2nd floor corner room in building 18 (I requested the bldg) with a slight river view but near a quiet pool, too. The hotel grounds are beautiful... I took so many pictures yesterday.
We arrived about 4:00 yesterday and, after unpacking a bit, we went to the main pool and it was wonderful. The weather was perfect, the kids loved it and so did we. My husband and I each had a tropical drink from the pool bar. Then, we had a look around the hotel lobby/shop/arcade. They have a carictature artist in the lobby ($15) and a hair braiding place outside... We ordered pizza for dinner which was much better than I expected and went to bed early.
Today, we were planning on just relaxing at the hotel but I just suddenly changed our minds and we are going to go to Epcot instead. The reason for this is the weather. Today, it's supposed to be 82 degrees with a slight chance of rain and tomorrow it's going to be 91!! So, I thought we'd take advantage of a cooler day and then, tomorrow, be at Typhoon Lagoon at opening time and spend a few hours before checking in at the Polynesian.
The room is in excellent condition, though small. It is really clean and did not disappoint. My son, who is 13, insisted on sleeping on the trundle bed and didn't have a problem with the size at all.
Tomorrow, we check into the Poly for 7 nights... very exciting.
By the way, I did online check-in for POR, got my room request and it was a breeze. I highly recommend this for anyone. However, I did not get the gift card everyone is talking about!
