I'm having lots of trouble please help!

Ok I've posted on a couple other threads but I wanted to make a new one, hoping some computer whiz can help me. I'm going crazy. Here is my situation. I found out what mules were and wanted some real bad. I discovered you can't have two game windows playing at the same time with one browser. So, I tried using Netscape and IE. No go. Then MSN Explorer and IE. Still used same window. Finally, I installed Firefox and was able to operate two separate game windows at once. yay! Now my problem is, whenever I log on with either of my usernames from any browser EXCEPT FOR Firefox (i.e., internet explorer, MSN, or Netscape) this is what happens. I can log in and get to the map. I can click on messages, help, stuff, whatever. But once I try and enter an area, any area, even my room, it has the screen with the progress bar that says "entering _____" and the bar fills up but it sticks there. I can't click on anything or do anything except type in the text box, or close the window and exit. This has happened about 400 times. I've tried logging in again over and over, restarting, even when I'm not using Firefox at the same time and just trying to use it on IE like normal, this happens. VMK has not responded to my cry for help.

Can ANYONE give me a clue as to why this is happening? Is firefox screwing up my other browsers? I have shockwave and plugins installed, and like I said I can get in to the game, just not any rooms.

ok there are a few things you can do.


whats your connection speed? that may have somthing to do with it


you can always find another diser to trade with then pick the stuff back up.

you can go to www.vmkfansite.com and look in the players guide section for the way to get it to work on I.E.

I discovered you can't have two game windows playing at the same time with one browser.

Well, what I do is open IE once. Then I go back on my desktop and open IE again (there are now two instances of IE on my task bar at the bottom of the screen). In each of these two windows, I open the VMK Players Guide thread from the DIS board (it is a sticky at the top) and click on Play Full Screen mode.

This gives me two game windows playing at the same time.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason why some configurations work and some don't. I've had suggestions on how to run two games in IE windows but never could get it to work. Your situation sounds similar to mine. I CAN have my main character in IE and then load the mule in Firefox

- HOWEVER -

When Firefox is attempting to load I ALWAYS get a black screen that seems like it is going nowhere. Pressing F5 to refresh (sometimes 3 or 4 times) seems to get it through though.

Keep trying!

Don't know if this will help your loading problem or not -
but try emptying your cache.

In IE, click on:

Tools
Internet Options
General
Delete Files

This deletes all those temporary internet files which can clog up a system and slow performance. Might help, might not, but it won't hurt to try.

Thanks guys. I tried emptying the cache and all that jazz. I simply CANNOT get past the map when I use anything but firefox now. I was lucky enough to find someone (wdw2004wdw!) to trade stuff from my mule to me. I just wish I could do two games at once, would be easier to get a lot of stuff without burdening someone else. I did get a lot of stuff this way tonight with her help though and my rooms are coming along! I was in the middle of great decorating ideas when the park closed
I still don't know why IE does not work at all now but I'll just use FF and hope for the best!

I use IE for both,and I do keep my cache of temp files cleared out..( that does not sound very clean, does it ? )
...however I use this address for my mule account:

...and very rarely get a black screen...even when I have gotten a black screen through the VMK site or the VMKguide.com site...I could even use this method with my old windows ME computer..even though it took forever to load up....

I found that link here on another post. As said above it rarely gets the BSOD. However, the font of the text on the character that signs in on that is very strange sometimes. Also it's impossible for me to play fireworks or jungle cruise (and get a good score) on that character. For some reason it is slower when I have both characters on. Chat is funny too, not just because of the wierd text I sometimes get, but it's much slower. Maybe it's just my computer??

Your computer could be a little slow. I just upgraded my computers and that reduced the problem.

The text being messed up is a known bug where all the text runs together. This usually happens to me on the second window so I use this one for mules. My mules can not talk.

This is the only way I can get Firefox to open two windows for VMK (if there is an easier way please post).

Make sure Firefox is set up to do this by clicking
Tools
Options
Advanced
under Advance click tabbed browsing and under open applications make sure the dot for "the most recent tab/window" is filled in. This is default setting I believe.

To get two Firefox windows:
go to VMK and click enter game
Sign in
close VMK home page-not the new popup window
open Firefox browser again
go to VMK and click enter game
Sign in

its slower because.... ok, open Dis and look around, then log on to vmk and try to look around, it is much slower. why?ok say you have a 2 megabyte connection, then you use 1 meg on VMK, that leaves 1 meg to get to other stuff, this your connection will be half as fast. open up another vmk screen and you are using 2 out of two megs, so its going to be alot slower.

I got it to work! My boyfriend fixed some viruses and updated my computer and now I can VMK with IE and firefox simultaneously!
