i'm hoping the weather holds out...i'm having it Sat. n Sun.

Money is going towards our summer vacation.

How about U?

Yep, It is the city wide one this weekend. Quite a few on our block are also doing it so hopefully we have a good turnout.

We're past the yard/garage sale season here. Forecast has temperatures flirting with 110 degrees this weekend!

Good luck with your sales! :)

Sadly the Govt took most of my assests

I'm thinking of having one. Just really hate the organizing parts and the sitting all day outside!!!LOL I guess I'll see how motivated I can get tomorrow!!

I am! Only on Saturday to get rid of all the baby gear that has taken over my house for the last 2.5 years.

I am, but I need to find more little stuff. We are moving in 2 weeks Most of the stuff is furniture and I am having luck just selling that online. Good luck to everyone!

Mary

not this weekend, but next.

i'm in dallas, and it's already in the 90's. I plan on selling nice cold drinks too.

Since i just moved my aunt into a slightly smaller house (not smaller, just smaller closets). So i'm trying to get her to go minimumal on things.
She's already said I could sell several large peices of furniture. And then there's a ton of stuff that needs to go. There are 3 plastic shelving things in the outside closet, so i have plenty of ways for displaying things.

What's a good way to hang clothes up?? All of them are on hangers now. But like the fence is too far back. I'm thinking i might get some poles and attach it to the shelves.

What's a good way to advertise? I know there's craig's list, and i'll have to check out the paper's prices. Any ideas on finding the city laws on posting up signs??
I'm thinking by sunday afternoon, i'll just put a container out and make it donations only, so it goes. And the rest goes to salvation army. Once they say it's ok to sell, it's not coming back into the house.

It'll be my first ever yard sale, so i hope it goes well.

Im having a yard sale this weekend as well just on Saturday though. Were remodeling our house and getting rid of clutter. So needless to say whatever dont sale will be on a one way trip to the salvation army saturday at lunch.. :rotfl: Im so excited to get rid of all this stuff i dont know what to do with myself.. :yay:

I advertise on craigslist, the local newspaper & put signs up. Signs are great - use large oak tag - nice bright color!

My husband puts a rod between ladders i think to make a close rack.

Good Luck!

I'm doing a Saturday only garage sale this weekend - the rest of the community is Thurs-Sat.

It's my first garage sale, so I am a little nervous. I have a bunch of clothes (baby, toddler & adult) but little else.

Anyone have last minute tips on decluttering to find more to sell, organizing items for sale or pricing? :)

if u have alot of cloths, i would sort them by size perhaps either on tables or in large bins. any knick knacks u might have will probably sell - any old dishes, mugs,

good luck!

We are having one Friday and Saturday. I live on a busy intersection so those signs will be going up tonight. I use tables and clothing racks (I own a cinsignment sale so I have plenty which is nice). My son will be selling water and pop and maybe cookies. He's a cute red head with freckles so he usually does well with that! These funds will go towards summer vacation as well. Good luck. I am curious how much everyone will make and what you have the majority of.

I am doing Fri & Sat too...we just found out that the storms that were predicted should hold off through at least the Friday part!

GOod luck everyone with your sales! I am hoping for a big turnout...and have plenty to sell...just need lots of people to come!

another question...

The house sits on the corner lot. So there's a lot of front yard to work with. And there's a small car port in the back. Some one suggested to put everything in the car port, but it's not visible from the street. Sure it's shaded, but i don't think people will stop by if they can't see what there is to offer.

What do you think... Front yard none shaded or back shaded car port???
I don't personally have an issue with being in the sun all day.

Definitly Front Yard...

I agree with front yard.

We just packed up and I am inside cooling off. We made $507.10! I am so happy with that. And I have someone coming to buy the leftovers. I don't care if they only pay $5 for it all, just hope they take it all!

Our synagogue is having one next Sunday and we are supposed to drop off items tomorrow but I haven't had any time to go through our stuff. We had one last fall and made $1000 and it was a yukky rainy day, so hopefully we will do even better this time!

We're planning to have one in July. Was thinking only Saturday but now my job will be over (sigh) and DH is off on Fridays in the summer so we'll probably do Friday as well (the kids will both be out of the house)! DS is looking forward to selling drinks and also wants to sell sandwiches, LOL...very ambitious of him but I think we'll skip that.
