I'm going to see Belle on stage!

You read right--my mom and I are going to see Beauty and the Beast at the Academy of Music in Philly on August 3. I haven't seen a real live Belle in 7 years....now I'm going to see Jennifer Schrader as my favorite heroine. We got front row seats....a private box actually. I'm so happy I'm gonna see a real musical for the first time....and even more so because I love Belle so much.

Just a curious question since I know you love the show-Was Kerry Butler the original Belle? And is she married to Joey Mazzarino?

Susan Egan was the original Broadway Belle. Kerry is single, AFAIK.

The reason that I was asking is that my Brother met Joey Mazzarino in New York right after September 11th. My DB and 2 of his friends drove from Iowa to New York and helped sort and load food. They met Joey there and he took them to his apartment to sleep and fed them. DB also met his wife who had been on Broadway as Belle. I *thought* it was Kerry Butler, but I don't know for sure.

Hmm. Guess I will have to email him and ask.

The Beast is currently played on tour by Roger Befeler. By the way, Roger is married to a former tour and Broadway Belle-and Susan Egan's original understudy-Kim Huber.

Congrats! You will love it! I saw the musical a few years back on broadway and the show and special effects were amazing. The seats that you got sound wonderful. Enjoy!!!

Just wanted to say that I do believe Kerry Butler is married - I know there was a picture on Broadway.com from the Hairspray Actor's Fund performance that was captioned "Kerry Butler and her husband Joseph" - I'm assuming that's the guy you were all talking about? I've never heard of him, LOL, but I loove Kerry in Hairspray - she's super nice too.

Thanks Amzey! Joseph is Joey Mazzarino of Sesame Street fame. He wrote Elmo in Grouchland and Muppets in Space. And did some voices on Sesame Street (Stinky the Stinkweed and a Bear character.)

I know he has a few Emmy's because my Brother has a picture holding them. LOL! He and his wife were so nice to my DB and his friends. They still keep in touch through email.
