I've been to Orlando six times in my life. All six were spent at Disney.

Now, we've bitten the bullet and made reservations to stay at the Royal Pacific for two nights. I'm positive my DS13 is going to LOVE Universal Studios, but I'm sure I'll be a little homesick for Mickey and Minnie.

Anyway, I'm getting excited and thrilled I have something to look forward to!

We love Disney, but we also love Universal. You will have a great time. Just don't compare. Disney and Universal are completely different. Both great, just different. Universal has a magic all it's own.

Have fun!

Spidey is right. Just don't compare. It's the ol' apples and oranges thing. Trust me there is a lot (and I mean alot) to occupy your mind at IOA and US. Once you begin to encounter all the characters and theming at these two parks you will have a blast. Take your time and have fun!

There's also SWF (Sea World Florida) many are visiting since USF/IOA is only two parks. That's why attendance at SWF has been rising. Many are discovering it on their trip to USF/IOA. Wet N' Wild is the water park you can visit, so that makes 4 places to see.

u will love it as previously stated u can love both with out choosing 1 over the other:jester:

One taste of Universal...You will get hooked!! :) Once you're there, you may not feel too home-sick about Disney. You guys are going to have a wonderful time...a blast!! :Pinkbounc
You will love RPR if you love the South Pacific theme!!

Wait until you experience FOTL. Plus the ease of getting around. Both parks are themed wonderfully.

We are also Disney lovers but we love going to the Hard Rock and enjoying Universal.I have 2 teenage girls and this is what they like.We do both on our trip and this July we will start in Disney for 2 nights at the French Quarter then over to the Hard Rock for 4 nights and back over again to Disney for 4nights at the Polynesian (Lagoon view Concierge). Now thats a trip:jumping1:

I took pictures of the kids yesterday with Cat In The Hat and instead of asking them to say cheese I said, "Say Mickey Mouse!" and the Cat went wild. It was funny. I asked the kids if they wanted to go to WDW and they said they could wait until AK unveils Mt. Everest.:earsboy: :earsgirl: :earseek:

Tiggerguy, when you're at the Poly w/lagoon view, take time to sit out on your balcony and look over towards WDW after the park closes. One of the most amazing things I ever saw was all the steam rising up from the park as they cleaned it!

yes, we've been to orlando so many times and always to DisneyWorld. Usually our trips are spread out with many years in between. And each time we go, we always mention that we should see some more things in Orlando. But since we sink so much money into our WDW trips and stay on-site, we never want to venture further than anything WDW to get our money's worth.
But last year, we went to WDW a couple of years earlier than we had planned because of the 7 nights for the price of 4. It felt like we were getting a few extra nights for our money and we did "cheat" on WDW by spending one night at CityWalk.

I am certainly not looking forward to the heat of summertime in Orlando again, but I am looking forward to Universal, IOA and we are planning on going to Sea World. However, actually getting to Sea World will depend on how much fun we have at the Universal parks.

These boards are wonderful for gathering tips, ideas and strategies for all of the parks. Thanks to EVERYONE for all their wisdom. I know this will be a fantastic trip!!
