Well, we have a room booked now, so it's official, I'm going to Disneyland! Thanks to all who have helped on my various requests, and added encouragement.
I was ready to settle for a great deal of $49 on the Carousel Inn, as opposed to $109 quoted at PP, but DH insisted I deserved to be pampered (personally, I think he's the one deserves it, after all his time at sea in OpEnFreedom). He got on the phone and booked PP himself, something quite unusual for him, I'm the planner and booker normally! Later in the day I stumbled across a $93 rate on Expedia, so DH got on the phone again to try to get it matched - ended up with our two weekend days at $99 and our 5 weekdays at $79!!! AND it isn't one of the cheapest rooms overlooking the carpark, we have a "theme park view" overlooking DCA. Kudos for DH.
We leave on Friday Feb. 8, just one more week! We have a LONG drive down from Washington state to northern CA to spend the night at our daughter's, and drop off our furry thing (a Yorkie who has no concept of how to be a dog, nor does she at all admit to being one - we think her identity crisis may have roots in the fact that she is a Yorkshire terrier who was born in Wales, quite a conflict :-) She and our daughter's three cats will spend the week studiously ignoring each other, all refusing to admit the other exists.
Then on Sat the 9th, on to DL for a week - four days at DL/DCA, one at Knotts, one at Universal. Last time I went to any of these was over 20 years ago. Have been to DL probably 20 or 30 times, from 1965 - 1978. DH has never been to Southern CA (he has been to WDW, though). As I lived in Southern CA much of my teenage years, DH is in for a week of "I remember when this was....". Poor thing listened to it our first trip to WDW as well, as I spent much of my childhood in Orlando (my family moved away about the time rumours were starting to circulate that Walt Disney was buying land in the area...).
Anyway, we have a great deal on a room, the best deals on tickets for DL/DCA and Universal with the military special, and even good discounts at Knott's. What more can a person ask for?
Thanks for letting me go on and on - I have insomnia, am on a "Disney High", and it's too late/early to phone anyone to talk to without very serious consequences :-( It's always nice to have company in one's obsessions.

Good for you, Merriweather! :) Sounds like you have an awesome trip planned!

Thanks for the comments & support. Getting closer now, we leave Friday. And I now need to up my spending budget. My daughter and son-in-law came this weekend for a late Christmas (my husband was at sea til two weeks ago)and our Christmas gift was a box with a photo in it - an ultrasound! I'm gonna be a grandma!!!!
Oh the baby things I'm sure I can find in Disney shops...........

Oh, congratulations!!! :) Be sure and check out the World of Disney store in Dowtown Disney...it's HUGE and I'm sure you can find some baby things there. :D

<font color=navy>Congratulations, Merriweather! What a great present. :)

I know there's a shop on Main Street that has baby things - really cute Pooh, right now, as well as some Mickey/Minnie - nice and soft, and really nice. And like Michelle said, the World of Disney also has some nice things there for babies.

The weather is perfect right now, although the nights are really cool, of course. You should have a wonderful time. :)
