I know this sounds wacky ... but I'm going to Colorado next weekend for Friday and Saturday Night. This all developed this morning with a phone call from my brother.

Priced a flight from YHZ to DEN in Scotia Square flightcentre .... $2000 ....
Searched everywhere until I found the same flights on flightnetwork for $850 cdn taxes in.

Leave YHZ at 215pm (stop over in YYZ) get into DEN at 7:19pm. Rented a car on priceline for $15 a day .... works out to the high 50's with fees and taxes. Have to drive 2 hours west of Denver airport. Return leaves 1:49pm and goes through ORD. Gets into yhz at midnight.

Even I think I am nuts ....

Have a great time out there Ted! Denver is one of my favourite American cities! If you like Mexican food, while in Denver make sure you eat at the Blue Bonnet. Very popular restaurant so be prepared to wait.

Don't know if you've been there before, but be prepared to see everything under the name 'Elway'. Of course there is a restaurant called 'Elways', but also Elway Ford, Elway Toyota, Elway Honda. The former Broncos quarterback leases out his name for a profit, so his name is everywhere.

It's a shame Denver was knocked out of the playoffs in the 1st round. You could have gone to a playoff game.

Have a great time!

COOL ! It's things like this trip of yours that make life special! Enjoy!

2nd the Blue Bonnet...hope you enjoy our beautiful state. Remember to drink plenty of water, our altitude and lack of humidity can give you headaches.

Heading to a place called Jefferson .... not sure what kind of drive I will face?

Thanks for the suggestions of Blue Bonnet and the hydration suggestion. I live right at sea level ... I mean right at sea level .. so the altitude is a concern. Water and meds on the list! Thanks

The altitude really affected me. It made me feel a bit lightheaded for a couple of days. Denver itself is remarkably flat and very dry, however the mountains are spectacular. Well, you won't mistake it for Halifax at least:lmao:.

According to Bing Maps, I'd say you're 45 min from Denver. Farther south from the I70 corridor so I never was in that area. A beautiful drive west of Denver however is along I-70 through Aspen and the ski hill area, even in the summer. Kayaking/rafting are popular there. Stopped by there enroute to Grand Junction and wished I could have stayed there.

I have never been there, but have a great time. Any trip is great. Just booked flights to Orlando in September, we had a credit with AC that had to be used by November, and seeing as we usually do a driving trip in Sept., this will be a change. We are planning to drive to Savannah for a couple of days. Can't wait.
