Totally unexpected but welcomed with open arms. Going 10th-11th November.

It'll be my first solo trip but I am meeting people there. It will also be my first stay in Hotel New York which will be interesting as people always say it's great.

Looking forward to seeing all the Christmas festivities and taking a ton of photos.

how wonderful :thumbsup2 I wanna be there too. But I still have more than 4 months left...

Hi Steve,

Replied to your post on Facebook but only seeing here that you are staying at HNY which is where we are staying first week in December. I was there once before, 3 years ago in 2009 and I loved it. I really liked the theme-ing (no idea how to spell that :rolleyes1) and I liked that it was smaller than both NPB and SL. Also a nice short walk to the parks :thumbsup2

We stayed at DLH in 2010 and although the location is fantastic (especially as weather was freezing and snowy back in 2010) I certainly didn't think that it was worth double the price of HNY. Also I found that I missed the stroll back through Disney Village after the parks had closed on the way back to the hotel. Nice little extras at HNY too like doormen to take your bags to your room and a choice of hot items for breakfast.

The only on-site hotel I haven't stayed in is Cheyenne (which I think is your favourite?) but I have to say I would be quite happy to stay at any of the on-site hotels once I got to go to DLP. Room service, doormen, mini bars and swimming pools are not top of my list of priorities when I go to DLP but if I have the budget I'll go for the best I can afford but if my budget says Santa Fe or Cheyenne then I'm happy with that too :)

Hope you have a brilliant time! Take loads of photos. Am I right in thinking that this will be your first trip during the Christmas season? :santa: Don't know if you're mega into Christmas like I am but I just love listening to Christmas music as I stroll down Main Street, the huge Christmas tree (which I believe is to get new decorations this year, exciting!) and all the Christmas decorations in the park and in the hotels (I'm not a fan of the Christmas theme in IASW though, wish they'd leave it as normal). I really hope you like it. Such a pity that Mickey's Winter Wonderland, Fantillusion, the Winnie the Pooh Christmas Show at the Festival Theatre and the usual Christmas show on the (now gone) stage in Central Plaza are not on this year. Apart from the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony they really have taken away a lot of the Christmas entertainment so I'll be interested to hear if you think it's Christmassy enough.

Again, have a great time. Can't wait to hear all about it

Paula

P.S. Aren't your wife and son just a little bit jealous that you're going and they're not?? ;)

Thanks Isila - that 4 months will go by really quickly, I promise!

Hi Paula - nice to see you on here :)

It's great to hear that Hotel NY is so great and I'm looking forward to a hot breakfast, I've only ever had that in Walt's years ago when we had a character breakfast there. I agree about walking through the village - always nice to see the lake at night with Panoramagique grounded till the morning. This will be the highest key rating of any hotel I've stayed on, so I'm expecting luxury ;)

It will actually be my 5th Christmas Season trip!! I do like Christmas, but not as much as my wife, who is fine with me going as it's a 'business' trip of sorts. As long as I bring her and Lucas back lots of pressies :)

With it being the 20th Anniversary I'm expecting a few extra bits and I can't wait to see what the theming (that's how always, probably incorrectly, spell it) will be. I'll be interested to see if the rumours of a new tree come to fruition too.

I'll be taking 3 cameras, so lots of piccies to come :)

Steve

Ooh are you off for the press event :thumbsup2 It will be mad with all the other things going on but what fun !

I didn't think that the tree was going to be changed just new decorations for the 20th but I'll be very happy if it is.

Will be watching for your TR :goodvibes

We are there 9th -13th after a gap of 4 years so will need to look out for you :)

Heading to your beloved Hotel Cheyenne with extended family...11 of us in total.

Ah, didn't realise you'd been at Christmas so many times. I think because you'd talked about Hallowe'en so much I just presumed that that was the time of year you always went.

Very understanding wife you have there. Not a chance my hubby would get to DLP without me!! Even if it was for business!! Better bring an extra suitcase for all those presents!! (ok, so that's a lot of exclamation marks but I do get overly excited talking about DLP!! ;) )

Cannot wait to see all the photos. Enjoy.

Paula

P.S. (feel I should explain that I didn't pick the name PrettyP for myself. I was having trouble joining disboards in the beginning and somebody else set it up for me and gave me that user name. Very embarassing  Always feel I have to explain it to everybody so they don't think I'm extremely vain!!)

Have a great trip Steve :thumbsup2. Looking forward to hearing what you think of the 'new' Christmas celebrations.

I am actually looking forward to it - but that is perhaps because I haven't been before at that time of year so can't compare it to previous years. Having said that, there is plenty going on - two of the things I am most excited about are totally new this year - meeting Jack & Sally (hurrah!) and the Christmas Cavalcade which sounds amazing and is pretty much all new from what I have read :cool1:.

I must have misread as well as I thought they were getting a whole new tree which was even taller than the old one - perhaps I dreamed it! ;)

I think it is quite nice that they are introducing new things and tweaking from previous years - I guess they wanted it to change with it being the 20th! (plus of course, they have very little money which doesn't help :lmao:).

Enjoy!

I can't wait to see your photos!!!!

It always makes it a bit more real when you see the Christmas makeover - while it's still Halloween bits it feels a bit distant, although our trip is in 4 weeks time, once I see photos of the tree in place I'll know we're getting close!!! :santa:

Will you be checking out the Belle meet & greet area or Jack & Sally at all?

Good one... we were planning to meet up the week after before you bailed..but this means that I can get your ideas before we go on the 17th.. Enjoy!

Hi Steve. We are there from 7-12 November at hotel. We Have booked the VIP meal at walts at lunch the 10 nov. iIf you don't wanna eat alone, you can eat with us. We don't have the money to pay for you, but we are shareholders so you get a small discount.

Hearing all of you talking is making me even more excited!

Thanks for the offer Christina but although I am travelling alone I am due to meet up with some others when I get there and part of what is planned is dinner on Saturday night. Thanks so much though :)

I hope to do absolutely everything they have on for the Christmas season, including meeting Jack and Sally. I am even go to go on Big Thunder Mountain for the first time ever - wish me luck!

Yay!!! BTM is fab - can't wait to ride it in the dark on our next trip!! :yay:

Ooh, I was going to suggest you give it a go! If you're anything like me there's a good chance you won't like it the first time you go on (although in my defence it was raining and I was also worrying about my 4 year old sitting next to me!) but after that you'll be hooked!

Have a great trip, can't believe you've never ridden BTM :faint: You'll love it, honestly I'm a total wimp and I love it !
and HNY too, although the look of it still doesn't appeal to me, have to say that we had a fantastic stay there and it was most definately worth the extra pennies :thumbsup2

It's my dream to go to DLP alone! You can't beat seeing the happy faces of your kids and I would feel DREADFUL if I were there and they weren't - but the thought of doing all the rides that I want to do (instead of spending an hour in Alice's Curious Labyrinth every day - yawn!) is VERY appealing! :rotfl:

We go on the 11th - seems like there are lods of us going that week!

Have an amazing trip Steve, look forward to your photos:thumbsup2
