I ordered the Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 VR from B&H this week and according to UPS it's "Out for Delivery!!" I may just sit on the front steps all day watching for the big brown truck to arrive. :yay: :yay: :yay:

Wow! That's a quantum jump, and one that's on my "if someone gave me a wheelbarrow full of cash" list. From all I've seen and heard, you are gonna LOVE that lens. Do you have a "caddy" lined up to tote it around WDW the next time you go?

I certainly do! He's a very good sport about lugging around my equipment. :) I always say I'll carry it, but it never ends up that way. ;) Once I earn a little more $$ (I'm sorta broke at the moment), I'm going to get him a weight bench that he's had an eye on. He's gonna need it and fast...we are going to WDW November 8th!

Congratulations. That is a wonderful lens. The 70-200, while lusted after, was just not in the budget. I have the 80-200 f2.8 and just love it. You should get many, many years of wonderful photographs from that lens.

Don't forget to post some photos.

I just got my new Canon 70-200 f2.8 last Friday. I was afraid I was going to miss the UPS man, and then have to wait until Monday to get it. I did manage to be home when he came around 5PM.

:yay: Wow, that's great! and it comes with a caddy :rotfl: Congratulations it's a beautiful lens! The VR will be awesome on the safari. Looking forward to your trip pics.

SWEEEEET! I have that on a "short" list of lenses I lust, uhm want. Some day I'll get one. I'm seeing that my new D300 is almost begging for great glass.

You will love the lens and be prepared to attract attention with at WDW. I got more comments when I took mine on the Disney Cruise two weeks ago. Also attracted attention at Sunrise Safari.

I am a big guy and did not feel that is was a burden to carry around. I did not want to hit anyone with it.

It does take some use to get used to the size and hold it steady.

Did I say you would love the lens?

This lens is HUGE!!! I really was not prepared for the size and weight. We have decided to call it "The Beast." I've walked around my yard and snapped a few photos, but I plan to give it a real workout at tomorrow's 6th grade football game & the junior high boys' cross-country meet. I'll be sure to post some photos.

Maybe I should plan to spend a little time on that weight bench too!

Kyle...the funny thing is that I immediately started wanting a better camera body and your D300 came to mind. :)

I'm so excited for you! I think it may be time to schedule our photo shoot day!
P.S. Glad to see that you are up and running. When did you get YOUR power back on? We got ours on Wednesday.

I'd love to get together. Since we both shoot Nikon, we can have some real fun!
I'm spoiled...our power came back on Sunday nigiht around 11:30. I've got a freezer full of other peoples' food, however! As far I know, my mom is still without. :( Our street looks like hurricane came through. ;)

Nice! I love when they have the VR definately helps in some cases. Enjoy the new lens!!!

I have to ask the question of our lady photographers? Us guys usually spend a lot of time explaining our photography purchases or asking forgiveness when we buy our toys. What do you ladies do to explain your lens needs to your husbands?

Did I say you would love that lens?

You certainly did and you were right. :)

Although my DH is not into photography, he definately like his gadgets and I think he gets a kick out of it when I go nerdy. About 3 years ago, I fell into a little photography business that has recently seen good growth. I do team pictures, family photos, infant & newborns and I have few seniors on the schedule this year. Because of that, I've been able to support my own habit. The first purchase I made, the D50, I had a massive garage sale and was very up front that the profits would go towards my camera. My poor kids, if they hadn't played with it in 6 months, it was tagged! Since then, I've been self-sufficient. I just save up until I get whatever tool/toy it is I want.

Back in the day...when I was still scrapbooking...I would just hide things. :rotfl2:

My husband is actually pretty good about it. He will roll his eyes and say things like another one??? But then at the same time when he sees good deals he will tell me about them. He does not like taking pics but he likes me to take lots and lots of photos.
