I know there are scammers and disturbing people out there,and this is fishy, but has it been established as fact? It's just a bunch of people who don't believe what she's explaining and she's getting burned at the stake on a public forum.

Goodness..what if, just think for a second...WHAT IF..everything she has said is true? It's just a shame to see all this venomous talk towards someone who could legitimately be going through a very trying time.

Heck, my parents took me on an all expense paid trip AND gave me spending money a couple of times when I was a young single mom and was getting..gasp..welfare. The trip to Disney with my little girl didn't cost me a dime thanks to the generosity of my folks.

Maybe she did let someone use her DIS id to post? Kind of dumb, but hey, not everyone is the sharpest tool in the shed....but it's possible. Often times, people who don't leave an abusive relationship or really struggle with it don't exactly have their heads screwed on straight.

Honestly 40grand where I live... wouldn't get you far...and she has three kids. I am not defending her...But I am just saying. If she is now on her own and only making 40 grand... thats nothing. We do not know where she lives and what her expenses are. I realize someplace 40g is alot but many places it is not!

Fair enough, but there is still the lying. When it was pointed out, she stated that (paraphrasing) "Didn't we realise that it could just be someone with the same user name?". She claimed not to have written the post. Since it is IMPOSSIBLE that it was someone with the same user name, this is a blatant lie and makes me suspect everything that she writes.

Had she said what you said "Yes, I make $40,000; but it doesn't go far with the cost of living here", or something other than an obvious lie, I'd feel differently.

As I said, rightly or wrongly, once I find someone in an obvious lie, I have trouble believing anything from them.

You are a nicer person than I am (not being sarcastic). If I am lied to, I don't care if it is Christmas or not.

Now, I haven't actually posted anything attacking the OP - mainly I've just been reading, so I don't consider myself "mean", but "suspicious"...yup.

For the record, I do believe that the OP is/was going through a tough time. Possibly there were some embellishments and things got out of hand, so she resorted to lies, but I cannot imagine making everything up.

I thought she was referencing to when she said that she let her friend borrow her account to post about the DVC stuff, not that she actually thought 2 ppl could be registered w/ the same username. However, we will never really know the truth as the OP will probably not show up w/ this name again.

If I couldn't pay the bills to let my children and me have a place to live and my Mom offered me a trip anywhere I would have told her that I couldn't go because I had to worry about making sure we had a place to live and food to eat. Silly me! Even if the trip was free why would you as a MOTHER tell your own Mom that you would rather borrow the money she was going to spend until you could get on your feet? See I'm crazy like that. I don't think that WDW is going to provide for me.

I agree. I don't tend to get involved with posts that get argumentative or begin bashing others. But when you post about staying at the GF, BCV or any other rather costly spot at WDW and how mom may "join" you on one hand, and on the other you can't put a roof over your head, then I have to get suspicious. Seems too coincidental that she was talking about going in Dec, and posting all of these threads about that trip, and then all of a sudden someone else is borrowing her account.
I don't doubt that she could be in an abusive relationship. NO ONE deserves that. I hope that she is strong enough to get out and make it on her own. People out there will support her as evidence of the good people on this board. I just hope that she does so honestly without taking advantage of the good nature of others as it seems she has done here. Maybe things are just "fishy" and she is telling the truth, however things aren't adding up. Maybe she will come clean and give the true story. People will probably forgive her or continue to support her if needed.

Nope. In the locked thread, when the post about dog breeding was mentioned, she said that there must be another user with the same user name.

As a mom of 2 women in their twenties, if one of my daughters was being abused in the fashion Amy says, I would not be giving her a trip to Disney World. I'd be arranging ways to get her out of the situation.

Safety for my daughter and her kids first. A trip to Disney World is far down the list of things I'd be trying to arrange.
