I'm getting PAID to go to DL!

Well, pretty much. I'm a teacher in AZ and the gifted class is taking a trip there and I get to chaperone!! We are taking the Amtrack train there and back and spending 4.5 days at DL!!! The school is paying for tranport., admission and all meals. And since we are considered "working" the whole time we are there they are also giving us a $600 check! So that will take care of souvies and snacks (I hope, LOL) Plus the thrill of seeing several 4th and 5th graders faces who've never been before. I am sooo excited that I just can't wait. So I'm lurking the boards to get more ideas of what not to miss, cheap tips and fun fun fun to get me even more excited about the trip.

a good place for cheap souveniers is the VIVA 99 Cents store next to Target on Harbour street just a few minutes from DL.. Many hotels are on Harbour.. and they have tons of Disney things for a dollar... it might be a good place for cheap souveneirs. One of the things I like a lot we bought were Minnie Mouse Snowglobe Type pens.. where the upper portion of the pen had Minnie Mouse and snowglobe type snow in it.. and when you used the pen.. the inside of the see -through part lit up. They had lots of different characters.

I teach GT in Texas and my kids have no field trips.

Lucky duck!! I remember my cousins were able to go to DL as kids through the school. I bet those teachers had a blast!

The boards will fill you w/ ALL kinds of info & ideas - be sure to take notes!

WOW!!! I was going to say you are lucky, but as a teacher, you deserve it. My DH is a teacher and I know that you all are underpaid and under appriciated oftentimes. . . . this is a treat you deserve HAVE FUN!

Wow how cool! Your district must not be hurting to pay for all that! Here parents pretty much have to pay for all the small field trips. They'd never pay for a trip to DL, most of the time they can't afford paper!
