I'm getting a lot of junk mail for AARP

Every now and then, I'd get junk mail from AARP asking me to be a member or buy senior citizen insurance. Problem is, I'm not even close to being old enough for AARP! If they come back in 30 some years, I might be ready.

Why is this happening to me?

I think you can sign up for the AARP when you turn 50. So you can get it in less than 20 years--not 30.

I have a friend whose husband is a lot older than her, and he signed up for the AARP when he turned 50. Spouses can use the benefits of the AARP even when they aren't 50. My friend is 38, and she has an AARP card, and uses it to get great discounts on hotels whenever she travels.

You should sign up for it to get the discounts, Barry, and if anyone questions you, just tell them you look really good for your age.

Maybe there was a mistake with your birth certificate and you are older than you think.

I got a bunch of those the year I turned 35 . . . . but when I actually turned 50 they "forgot" all about me. I think I'm going to sing up for some of those discounts!

My boss got one of those about two weeks ago, funny thing is, I am older than him and have never received one!! He is only 34!

ROFL! I get that too and Im 31. I also get stuff from insurance companies and senior homes in the area. We finally figured it out when I got something saying "youll be turning 65 on October 3..." Somewhere on some list I am mixed up with my FIL because that would have been his 65th birthday. He passed away, actually a year ago today, so I dont know where that leaves me, still getting these offers.
