Two nights ago, I had to go to the Cingular store to purchase my DD's new cell phone and upgrade my plan.

The whole, stupid, agonizing ordeal took close to hour. The manager of the store waited on me. She had a horrible cold. She coughed on me and sneezed for 45 minutes. I did not touch her pen, tried not to breathe her air, but as of this morning, it looks like I lost the battle.

I can feel it starting. Fortunately, I am leaving work early and I will be RUNNING home to get my Zicam started.

I am so ticked off. I mean, I know the woman probably HAD to come to work but GEEEEEEZZZZZ. I just hope this doesn't turn into one of those horrible cold/sinus infections. I do not want to be sick on Christmas.

I always thought it took 2 weeks for a cold to fester...guess I was wrong...

from http://www.faqs.org/health/Sick-V1/Common-Cold.html

People with colds are contagious (can pass on the virus) during the first two to four days of infection. The virus can be passed in various ways. When an infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks, for example, fluid droplets containing the virus are discharged. People nearby may breathe in the droplets and may then become infected....

One to three days after infection, a person begins to feel cold symptoms caused by these changes.

I've never tried airborne...but Zicam always works well for me!

A day and a half with mine. :guilty: I thought it was a cold, than it turned into the 'flu.' :confused3 Now, I am doing much better, and will return to work tomorrow. ;) I took antibiotics and ALeve cold and flu and so far it has worked great. Also, lots of hot tea.

Ugh I know how you feel! :guilty: I got back from California last night and just starting getting a cold. I can't take Airborne because it has ginger which I'm very allergic to. I hope you start to feel better. :)

Ooooh, I hate that feeling of starting to get sick! Yuck! I hope you start to feel better soon! :flower:

I can relate. All of us came down with a cold we got at Disney. The good thing was we didn't begin to get sick until the day we left to come home so it didn't spoil our trip.

You might try using Zicam nasal swabs. They really seem to have worked for my DS. He began using them the last two times he felt a cold coming on and he began feeling much better and having less symptoms. I tried Airborne and I can't tell it did a thing. I guess what works for each person is different. I'll be using Zicam swabs next time. I've read they are more effective than the oral version.

To everyone who is sick, I sure hope you all feel better soon.

I hope the Zicam does the trick.

I just took it for my recent cold and it really did lessen the effects of it. I started out taking the oral spray, but OMG, was it N A S T Y! :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: I switched back to the nasal swabs and I was a happy camper.

Get better soon!

I hope you don't get a cold. As a former retail manager I also feel for the poor woman who had to go to work sick. Your right, she most probably did not have a choice. Her choice most probably would have been to stay home and get well. But a manger has to be in the store, and when you're a manger, you go in sick or not.

Thank god, I am out of retail.

ZICAM, BABY!! But you have to start it from the very first symptoms (usually a sore throat for me) and keep using it after your symptoms subside.

I believe so much in this stuff that the company is using me in a current television commercial running all over the air!! I flew to NYC last year to film it after writing them a testamonial about it saving my first anniversary trip to Orlando!!

I got sick from spending the weekend with family. Yesterday I had to work but they sent me home after all the breaks were out. I called in today, that's how bad I feel. I hate this season for only one reason, sicknesses.

What??? Are you serious??? :earseek: I'll have to pay closer attention to commercials now. What network is it usually on?

Started with a cold/sore throat on Wednesday, used the Zicam swabs then and yesterday. Came home yesterday from a day of appointments, layed down at 5 PM, woke up at 6 AM today, have not slept that long in I don't know how long. Feeling about 95% right now. Hope you all feel better soon. Zicam, water and rest.

This time of year, it pays to have Zicam/Airborne or other drugs of choice with you at all times. Because you always start feeling like crap when you are in the ONE place you DON'T have access to your drug stash!

I always keep a couple of anti-histamine's on me, good for both allergies and colds, at least until I can get myself home to take cold medicine.

The sooner you take your meds, the less bad you'll feel, and the shorter the cold will last!

Hope the OP feels better soon!

I have this mental picture of all us DIS cold sufferers lined up swabbing our noses with Zicam. Maybe gypsydoodlebug can get us all in a tv commercial! :rotfl:

We just need a catchy slogan now... :scratchin

I am right there with you right now. My hubby came home from work a couple weeks ago with one and my little one started with it 3 days ago and sure enough it hit me yesterday. I feel like crud b/c of it!

DARN COLDS!!!!!!

This is so true. At Costco and BJs, they sell the double packs of Zicam, so I stocked up. Unfortunately, I had left it all at home but I didn't notice the symptoms until this morning so I think I'm okay since I started it within 6 hours of the first symptom.

You have my sympathy. My symptoms started yesterday and kicked in big time today. I had better not be sick all week before Christmas!!!!
