I watched my niece ALL DAY yesterday. She played with DS and DD, even ate dinner with us, where she kept feeding my DD off of her fork.. which I kept asking her not to...

NOW, this morning comes the call from DSIL...

"Niece is sick.. has been puking all morning.. so sorry.."

I know there is nothing to do, and I can't worry about something that hasn't even happened yet, BUT...

I want to cry!!

Please send germ-fighting pixie dust this way!!

So sorry! Sounds like what my nephew and brother had and it only lasted 24 hours. It's no fun to be sick at Disney. Trust me! I know from experience!! :)

Oh no! I hope your kiddos don't get it!! We're leaving in the morning and my dd has a little cold and I have a sore throat today. I'm think it's because yesterday morning it was 50 degrees and today we have an inch of snow and more to come!

In July, on the morning we were leaving for our trip (drove 20 hours), I woke up with a sore throat. Called doctor right away, got antibiotics and started taking them right away. I didn't want kids to get it, so tried not to share drinks or anything until I felt better (that was hard). Anyway, while we were there (around day 3), DD4 got sick - threw up right in the elevator on the way down to the pool. I took her up to room and DH took other 3 kids to pool - tried to keep them away from DD4 so they wouldn't get it. Everyone was fine until the morning we left, me and DD8 felt sick. I laid in bed all morning while DH packed up 2 hotel rooms by himself (remind me to thank him for that again!) So, we didn't get to go to the park for half day like we planned. Poor DH had to drive all the way home (20 hours) and DD7 ended up throwing up in the rented minivan at 2:00am somewhere in South Carolina. But, do you know what? We still had a GREAT time! We're leaving on Friday morning to go back! So, even if your DD gets sick, it will pass - just try to enjoy yourselves! Sending pixie dust your way!

We left one am for Disney and 2 of the kids puked all the way there. We just kept changing their clothes (and we put the beach towels over them too) and putting them in tightly closed Wal-Mart bags. The minute we got to our rented house (or whereever you are staying) we threw the clothes in the laundry. It was a 24 hour bug. So even thought the 14 hour drive to Disney World was HORRENDOUS, the week we spent there was absolutely fabulous. If you think there will be puking while travelling, bring a whole pack of baby wipes and lots of extra clothes and keep the beach towels handy. If you're flying... I'm very sorry. I have no real advice, but the no puking pixie dust is flying your way. It won't ruin your vacation, I swear!

OK, we're leaving tomorrow morning. My DS12 tells me last night he thinks he has strep (every time he says that, he usually does!) So, DH just took DS12 and DD4 to doctors - both have strep throat! My throat has been "scratchy" for 2 days now and my glands feel tender, so looks like I am getting it too. I called my DH crying this morning because everyone is getting sick, I still have to pack, got the girls to school late this morning, etc. I know once we get there, it will be great. But, why can't we ever go and not be sick? I've tried so hard to stay away from all the germs here at work - about 10 people have had really bad colds over the past 3 weeks. I'm constantly washing me hands, trying to stay away from the sick people, but of course, the day before we leave, I have to come down with something. Sorry, I just had to get that out - I feel better now. At least, the kids will be starting antibiotics, and hopefully will feel better once we get there.

Thank you all for the pixie dust! So far.. no puking here... Fingers crossed!!

I am so sorry, DSNYMOMOF4, that yours are sick, too!! Thank goodness you were able to get antibiotics before you left.. You should get some for yourself too!

I am traveling with a portable pharmacy... :rotfl: Motrin, Simply stuffy ,, benadryl, chloroseptic, everything you can think of.. I am hoping if I have the meds, it will jinx everything and they will stay healthy!!

I am the master of Strep, and took many a vacation with it before re-getting my tonsils out. (long story.) I recommned you and dh start antibiotics today too. Why wait until you feel crappy? Last time we were going on vacation I woke up the morning of & just KNEW I was getting it. I called and went in at 5am. Took the prescription with me & got it on our way as soon the drug stores opened. Only felt truly bad the first day. And after 24 hours of antibiotics you are no longer contagious.

P I X I E D U S T `~.~*`~.~*` To you all!!!! :wizard:

I hope you all get to feeling better and you have a great trip... I wish you all lived close and I could have my DH get you some one day super anti's from his practice's sample closet. I know how it feels to be sick the day before your trip. I think sometimes ( for the adults ) it could be brought on by stress!!! Hope you all have a great time at the world :sunny:
