will be at the Lady and Sons in Savannah. Ever since we planned this trip, we have planned to go to Savannah on Easter Sunday and hoped to go to the Lady and Sons for Easter dinner (we at the Sunday buffet there on our July 2003 trip and loved it, and wanted to see more of Savannah and see the new restaurant as well). Well...I called today, got right through (it can be hit or miss in my experience as to whether they pick up the reservation line when it rings through--they only take reservations for large groups and for three or four major holidays), found out that they did now have the reservations sheets for Easter Sunday made up, and got a reservation for the three of us to go! It wouldn't shock me if Paula Deen were there that day, too, since she is definitely in town late in the week before Easter to do two of her cooking schools at the restaurant.

Congrats Doctor P! Someday we are going to do the Savannah, HH trip. Did your schedule change so that you could now travel at Easter. I thought that I remember you saying you could only travel over the Christmas Holidays?

Thanks for asking. My schedule and work responsibilities have not really changed. To make a long story short, I am on a sabbatical from most of my work responsibilities this spring (much to the chagrine of one of my bosses who has given me an unbelievable hassle about it) to allow me to write a book. Thus, this spring I am able to dovetail some of my field work on the book with my daughter's spring break and get to Hilton Head for Easter. We are thankful for the fortuitous circumstances, but don't expect that it will happen again unfortunately. But, we are going to enjoy it this time, LOL!

I'm happy for you, Doctor P! I've never been to either place, they are on my list. Enjoy this special vacation.

Hey Dr. P! I remember when you started planning this trip a year ago. So glad that it's almost here. Don't forget to pm me if you want a free guest pass to Sea Pines. About your book---hope you'll let us know when it gets published. Is is something totally academic in nature or more along the lines of summer beach reading? Regardless, have fun soaking up the local atmosphere. :sunny:

Well...it likely won't be summer beach reading, but I'm hoping that it will be more than just something that an academic would read, LOL. The chapters I am working on right now aren't really spicy, but I've got a few more in store that the average person might find pretty interesting if I can pull them off. Thanks for the offer of the Sea Pines pass. May take you up on it.

I'm glad to hear it worked out, at least this once! Good luck with the book!
