FINALLY! after two years of waiting til the right time, my DF popped the question!

I'm currently studying abroad in London for the semester and my now DF came to visit this past weekend... i had an amazing weekend planned for us including theater tickets to Chicago, shopping at Harrod's and a trip to St. James Park... little did I know how amazing this weekend was going to be! :lovestruc

The first day he arrived we walked through Hyde Park and had crepes for dinner in Kensington, where I'm living, then we had planned to walk around Big Ben and Parliament and the London Eye... we arrive in the area right as Big Ben strikes 8 and cross the Westminister Bridge to see the London Eye. As we're walking I notice DF checking his watch every now and then, but i think nothing of it.. he suggests we turn around and head back to the hotel so we retrace our steps across the bridge this time heading towards Big Ben. We stop halfway over and Df asks a lovely woman to take our picture with Big Ben in the background and asks to give us a countdown... so she frames the shot, say 1-2-and on 3 DF gets down on his knee and popped the question! Of course I said "yes" and the woman got some amazing candid shots (on his camera of course, so no pics yet)... it was the perfect proposal and now I cn officially begin planning our perfect Disneyland (CA) wedding for Dec. 2010!!!!

ps. the ring is gorgeous and i love it... .74 carats princess cut solitaire! amazing!

Congratulations to you both. I'm sure you will have lots of fun planning your big day

Congratulations! :cheer2:

That sounds like an amazing proposal and a great guy to plan that out! Enjoy planning your dream wedding!!

First of all Congratualtions, you must be so excited.

Secondly that proposal sounds so, so cute. London is such a beautiful city, especially around that area, and early evening when all the lights are coming on. You must have been so happy, your boyfriend did well. I hope the rest of your weekend went well too, how did you find Chicago?

A bit OT but how are you finding London? I live nearby and visit often and love it, especially at christmas. If you are still there over christmas it really comes alive and is just magical... I cant wait to go to Winter Wonderland and have mulled wine, and see all the decs and go to Hamleys.

Congrats!!! Can't wait to see pictures! I love London (especially Harrod's). I lived there a few years ago doing a summer internship. It is one of my favorite cities!

Good Luck with all of your planning!

Congrats!!!! Have fun planning! I am recently engaged myself, and have been reading everyone's PJ's. Which to me is half the fun. Look forward to hearing your plans. Have fun in London. I studied in Ireland when in college, which was some of the best times of my life!

Chicago was amazing! the cast was so talented and we really enjoyed it! London is so amazing; I love living here! although we are blessed with an amazing house: we live in South Ken by Hyde Park. and Christmas time is just WOW! we went to the Harrod's Christmas parade a couple weeks ago and were blown away! I'm here until the 19th, but I already have so much Christmas stuff planned; I can't wait!

Thank you so much for all your kind responses! I'm sure I'll be posting more once I get back home and we talk things over with the fam... I'm sure mine will be completely onboard, his might take a bit of convincing

so i still don't have the actual engagement pics; but I do have a few of our weekend in London and of the ring! (sry they're so big :confused3 )

I'm glad you enjoyed Chicago. When I went to see it I was quite disappointed as I had just seen the film with CZJ and the show ended up being a bit of a let down... the cast were just all wrong :sad2:

I can imagine your house being amazing, I know how lovely South Kensington is... and Hyde Park is lovely. I am very jealous :thumbsup2. You may have said before but how come you have come to London? I would love to go to CA for a bit, I'm so jealous you get to live there and then come here and stay in Kensington... jealous :thumbsup2

If you like ice-skating you should definitely check out Winter Wonderland, it is so much fun and there is so much christmas atmosphere, especially if you go at night and enjoyed a few glasses of mulled wine and have a look around the christmas village. Its so pretty with all the lights, although it can get pretty cold, especially for someone from CA ;). And the good thing is it is so close to you :goodvibes

Oh i thought i'd mentioned, but im studying abroad for a semester with Pepperdine University. They bought a house here about 20 years ago and we all live and go to class in the house. It's a very nice set-up. I'm much looking forward to the Winter Wonderland. I will definitely have to check it out :thumbsup2 Do you know when it opens? It has been really cold lately; but I've already gotten used to it. We were out celebrating the engagement last night and it was actually really nice out but my DF was frozen and actually caught a cold... i have to remember that not everybdy has been here for a couple months... Don't be too jealous of CA, there is no place even remotely close to London there... everything is incredibly spread out and public transportation is very scary....

That is so cool, I wish my university had done something like that. And its so cool they have a house, and in the perfect location too :goodvibes. Most people going to uni in London end up in the outer, rougher, more run down parts of London.

Winter Wonderland is from November 22nd. If you want to have a look the website is this: www.hydeparkwinterwonderland.com/
They have the ice rink, a very mini version of the London Eye, a christmas village, a bar area, its really nice even if you just walk through and get a mulled wine. Somerset House also do iceskating outside at christmas, we went the year before in the day and it was really quiet.
Have you been on the London Eye at all? Oh and have you visited Hamleys?

See I find the public transport in London quite scary, I could not handle having to get the tube every day. And driving is a nightmare too, its always so busy, even late at night.
Do you come from Malibu? I am so dying to visit there, it looks amazing :goodvibes

Congratulations!! :):):) A Disneyland wedding is going to be so lovely!! :)

You are SO me backwards! I was born and raised in London (live in rainy old Surrey now) and did a semester at UCLA. :) I looooooooooooooooove LA, and compared to cold, miserable london I'd swap ANYDAY! Lol.

i dnt live in malibu, well i do for school, but i'm from a bit north, the central coast area. Malibu is gorgeous and a great place to visit, but there really isn't a whole lot to do there besides going to the beach haha... you'd have to drive into LA to do nething remotely interesting... SoCal is a great place to live though because there is so much to do in a relatively small area; like going to Disneyland!!!! i had an annual pass last year and would drive the hour there after class... it was great!
