Day Three - Friday September 29th, 2006
Another exiting Disney Vacation first is your first day at the parks!! It may happen on your first day as you step off the plane or your fifth day at Disney but either way, it's always magical! This day was our First Official Park Day and DF27's first time in ANY Disney World park. We were eager to get there but first we had a 9:40am ADR at my personal favorite character breakfast, Chef Mickey's. Get your napkin ready!!!
We awoke at around 8:00 to shower, get ready, get coffee etc, etc. DBF and I thought it was a good idea to breif DF27 and especially DF30 to the goings on at Chef Mickey's, labeled by myself as the most "intense" and "in-your-face" character meal. I was assured that it would not be a problem and that there would be no violence against characters....Hehe, just kidding. But seriously, we really did really breif them though since I thought the whole experience would be a little too "Disney" for less-experienced vacationers to handle (especially ones that are close to 30 and definetly NOT children). We walked out the door at about 9:10am and arrived at the Contemporary Resort with a few minutes to spare so we took that time to press some pennies and leisurely walk up to the restaurant. When we got there the line was SOOOOOOOO long, I was not at all suprised and assured our party members that it really wouldn't take long to be seated. We got our buzzer and were escorted to a table in about 10 minutes.
Fortunetly, we weren't seated in the larger of the seating areas (I don't particularly care for that area much), we were seated against the left wall which is a nice little area that is VERY close to the food....my FAVORITE!!! Haha. I am constantly amazed by the amount of food they have here and everytime I come it is just slightly different. I'm a huge fan of cheesy potatoes and the breakfast pizza, which I ate in abundance. We had Mimosas and Bloody Mary's all around, swung our napkins and took many, many pictures all while getting uncomfortably full. So full in fact, that we didn't even have room to visit the pastry/donut table.

When the check came I decided to break the news that this wasn't our only buffet today.....
I could have sworn I had 10 heads by the looks I was getting. I also broke the news that cancelling was not an option...it was at 4pm for the Fantasmic! Dining Package so ya'll BETTER NOT EAT ANYTHING!!
Hehe, Oops....They wanted to watch Lost....I had no choice.
So with that in mind we left Chef Mickey's and meandered in the Contemporary gift shop a while while DBF picked out new sunglasses (he left his at home). By the time we left the Contemporary it was 11am. We decided to go back to the Lodge so DF27 and 30 could shower and so I could change my clothes (short shorts weren't working for me that day). At about 12:30pm we started the walk to the bus stop, waited about 10 minutes for a bus and off we went..........to MGM!!
Now, I must admit MGM is my least favorite park. ( Please don't throw things at me.

) I know many people who really love it (in fact when I asked DF27 at the end, which park was her favorite she replied "MGM"), and I don't actually "hate" it, I just
prefer other parks over MGM. So when we went there and DF27 was as amazed and impressed as she was, I couldn't help but think "You ain't seen nothing yet!", but I kept that to myself

.
Before we even arrived at Disney I made up my mind to NOT (under ANY circumstances) miss the Lights! Motors! Action! show since we didn't have time for it last year, so I picked up a map and a times guide when we arrived (aprox. 1pm) and decided that we should head to the back of the park for the showing at 2pm and work our way to the front after it was over. We made a pit stop at the Backlot Express for some Sangria and got seated for the show.
I'm soooo glad we made the effort not to miss it because it
was as awesome as everyone says it is. I really love movies and seeing how they do the effects and all that kind of stuff so this show was of particular interest to me. Since we were seated in an area with barely any people we were able to stretch out and really enjoy it, even waiting for the show was a nice experience.
After the show, we hit Star Tours, Rockin Roller Coaster and The Tower of Terror, respectively.
This is a little side note but just let me say one thing about ToT. I used to love this ride, so much so that I'd ride it many, many, many times in a single trip. I am also a lover of extreme rides and ToT is by far NOT the most jarring ride I've been on but ever since they changed the ToT to where it "bounces" between falls I GET SICK AS HELL riding this ride which is so dissapointing to me

. I know that it's a novelty to have it be "unpredictable" but I'd rather the ride take two or three FULL "13 story" drops then abitrarily bounce about until my stomach turns. Anyway....moving on...
By the time we were done with ToT it was 3:45pm. Time to eat.....again. Ugh. I don't think anyone was that enthusiastic about eating right then but we went anyway. We checked in at Hollywood and Vine and recieved our buzzer, before we even sat down to wait, it went off. We waited not even 45 seconds!! Haha. I was still reeling from my ToT trip so I started slow with just one plate of food

. Later on, after we had finished up, we all had wished that we could have been a little more hungary so that we could have enjoyed it more but oh well...stuff happens and we still ate a tremendous amount (and everything was delicious...well most things).
After dinner (at about 5:10pm) it was back to the lodge to recover from our two buffets until it was time for Fantasmic!. On our way out, there were soooooo many characters in the front common area so we decided to stop and take some pictures. We didn't want to wait on every line so I have many, many pictures of other peoples children with characters, but we did manage to stop and wait for Mulan, DF27 is Chinese after all.
We arrived back at the lodge with about an hour to kill before having to go back to Fantasmic!. We sat around and relaxed and headed back to MGM at 6:45pm. The show was amazing as usual. I was a little dissapointed by the absence of the river boat at the end but hey, nothing is perfect, it was still GREAT!! Fantasmic! was DF27's first Disney fireworks show and she cried some happy tears and we all had a good laugh at her expense

(I cried a little too...but I'm a Stealth Crybaby and no one noticed...shhhhhh). At this point (actually before the show even started) DBF was getting a little cranky and gave me attitude thru the whole show. Grr. This happened alot unfortunetly however, after the events at the end of the trip I totally understood why he was so on edge.
When Fantasmic! was over we browsed thru some shops and decided (actually, DF27 decided) on heading off to the Earl of Sandwich in Downtown Disney to pick up a snack for later. So that's what we did! DF27 & 30 got 3 sandwiches (again), DBF got nothing because he thought we were crazy for getting more food and I got another Tuna Melt, unfortunetly I was too full to actually eat it so I saved it for the next day.
We finally got back to the Lodge at about 10-11-ish and made plans for the next day which were to SLEEP IN, and possibly visit a water park, but we'd leave that up to how we felt in the morning. Good nights were said and off to dreamland we went....
Tune in next time when water park plans get drowned and Food and Wine Mayhem begins!!!!
