"I'm Doing That Again... and AGAIN!" - A May/June 2013 TR

Oh wow I couldnt find your trip report for a long time :sad2:. I finally found it and I'm all caught up :thumbsup2 We have been thinking about going the same time next year. We are not real sure yet, the parks seem crowded in some of your posts :confused3

MMM, Beaches & Cream.
Jambo House is my favorite resort to stay in. Gorgeous with a capital G. We had a studio with a savannah view. Perfect! The gym is great with a sauna and steam room. Just a fun resort.
EEK! I would have flipped out if I saw a mouse. Only 1 mouse I want to see there.
Bugs I don’t do either. LOL
Sounds like a fun day and evening.

Hi Marissa,

Great report, was worth waiting for!

Yum, I love Beaches and Cream, although it is a shame about you not getting to experience the scent of the BC lobby, it really is nice.

I also love AKL! In fact, so much so that we're staying there for a whole two weeks next October :)

Love the Friends reference btw lol

I was just thinking about this report yesterday and wondering when you would be doing another update! How funny! Glad to see you back :)

I'm glad to hear that you are planning another trip, and I'd say that Disney should win over technology!

Great pictures from your resort hopping adventure! AKL really is special. I tell everyone that I did not expect to love it there as much as I did. It is definitely one of my favourite resorts. When we stayed there, we spent a lot of time out by the fire pit, just watching the animals - it is so relaxing. It is so cute that Jacob brought up AKL out of nowhere, he has good taste!

What a great night on the Poly beach, I should really make a point of doing this on one of my next trips, it sounds so relaxing.

Okay, I'm getting all caught up, so get ready for a mega post!

So so true about the Disney days always feeling like you got a full 8 hours of sleep the night before. I'm always running on like 4 hours of sleep and I'm like "I'M GREAT!!!!"

The 80's is absolutely the best decade! (Spoken like a true 80's child). ;)

Of course you had to go to the Magic Kingdom first! You definitely did wait long enough to see New Fantasyland.

You missed Belle's cottage simply because you were so determined to get into the whole area. Based on where it's located, that's totally understandable.

I'm glad that you felt avoiding pictures was worth it. I commend you, I just don't have the willpower.

Completely agree with your assessment of Tangled. It's an amazing movie, and it quickly went into my top five when it came out.

Oh no. Mermaid down, we have a mermaid down! I'm sorry that you didn't get to ride it that day.

Love the dole whip swirl. It's so nicely balanced between the flavors.

I love the Tiki Room and always have. Many people don't love it, but I really do.

Well if you are at the Contemporary, of course you have the check out the cupcake situation. It's a must!

That birthday cupcake looks heavenly. They have cake cups at the Cheshire Cafe now that I'm definitely going to try, because it's essentially a birthday cupcake. :goodvibes

Disney problems right? Your least favorite park being something you still love? :lmao:

I'm totally looking forward to Frozen too! I love all of the vocal talent they picked for it.

Okay, being the competitive freak on TSM that I am, I tell you right now. I would have been irritated beyond belief, and I would probably have thrown a fit. :rotfl:

Not surprised that the Little Mermaid is your new favorite. It happens to be mine too. Jeni and I rode it three times in one day back in November.

Awesome that you got to meet up with everyone, and even cooler that you were all in the same building.

I'm sorry you weren't happy with POP's bus system. Every time I've stayed there, the bus system has been top notch, even better than deluxe. I'm sorry you didn't have a great experience.

JONI!!!!!! Awesome. Everyone has a best DIS friend I think. ;)

Hahaha, more Grandma hustling. Isn't that totally what it feels like when you get the flip flop / rain combination?

Toe sniffing mouse at the Polynesian. Got it.

WOW, I can't believe how much you are reading my mind in this update. I so need to see AKL and I so totally plan to next trip fo sho! AND I came REALLY REALLY close to booking it but decided to save the money too. AND Wilderness Lodge was also on my list and again scrapped only to save money. Why does everything have to cost money!!??

You really show here how much a person can enjoy Walt Disney World and not even set foot in a park. It's so amazing.

I don't think I could've been as strong as you and not ordered ice cream. :rotfl2: I have an unhealthy obsession with the Beaches and Cream ice cream. :lmao:

AKL sounds gorgeous. The rocking chairs and bonfire area sounds so relaxing. I think I could go for a long weekend and never leave the resort. And it's good to know you liked it more than WL, because I've been debating which would be better. And with the animals factored in, I can see why AKL wins. :thumbsup2

Wishes from the Poly beach is great. It's a nice alternative if you don't want to go on Main Street or aren't staying at one of deluxes nearby. It's a personal favorite of mine.

A mouse at the Poly?!?! What?!
I will forever be on guard there.

And...I hate to say it, but in FL, when there are things like mice around, that means there's snakes nearby, too.
Oh jeez.....

what an awesome day! Yay for Dismeets! :cool1: Must have been so much fun getting to hang out with Joni, she seems so sweet. Gaston is one of my favorite character meets, it takes so little to get him going, it's so hilarious :rotfl: Ahhhh touring some of the deluxe resorts, tough decision but if I had to pick one the Poly is it  I mean it's got Tonga Toast, and a Dole Whip machine, and the beach where you can watch Wishes, and o'hanas... AKL is definitely my back up tho, i mean i wouldn't be mad waking up to my giraffe friends outside my window :rotfl:

What great resort visits! It's so fun to do that.

I have to agree with you that AKL is just a bit cooler than WL. I think the WL building is cooler, but in terms of overall resort appeal my vote goes to AKL! That whole vibe is so contagious. I am really looking forward to staying there again.

Capping off the night at the Poly is perfect.

Happy to see an update from you!

Glad to see you were able to do an update! Your day with friends and visiting resorts sounds great! The extra visitors (mouse and bugs!) not so much!!

I've just read about the Sunrise Safari tour that you can only book if you stay at AKL CL so I may be doing that sometime! In fact I'm thinking May for our 10 year anniversary!

I really need to make it to Beaches & Cream one of these days!

Yacht Club is the only deluxe I have yet to visit. Need to get there sometime just to see it.

You visited my two dream resorts, AKL and WL! If I ever stayed at a deluxe it would be one of those two. I've just never been able to justify the cost since I'm never in the room.

Awwww, poor little mouse, he just wanted your leftovers! :rotfl:

Loved your update! I think the Wilderness Lodge is amazing, but I haven't been to the AKL. I have no doubt that I would love it though. It is one of my dream resorts along with the Contemporary and the Boardwalk. :cloud9:

Yay!! You're back! We love Resort hopping too, I think it's one of the coolest things to do at Disney!:thumbsup2

Ok, first, before I comment on anything else...

We made our way through the lobby, where I tried and tried to find that magical smell everyone talks about in the Beach Club lobby.

The only other time I’d been there was in December when it smells like gingerbread because of the gingerbread carousel. I wanted to experience this amazing smell for myself. And ya know what? I didn’t. All I could smell was FISH. See, it was dinner time. We were in the Beach Club. Cape May Café was the only thing I could smell.

WHAT????? :confused3 I just don't get it...did you go in through the front of the lobby? And you still didn't smell the wonderful Beach Club smell??? Hmmm...I don't know how you missed it, that's upsetting to me, it's one of the best things about the Beach Club? :sad1:

Anyway, you went to all of my favorite resorts in one day! Isn't AKL the best??? I loved staying there, I can understand you wanting to wait until you can go with your brother to stay there, because I felt guilty not staying there with my DH! :rotfl:

And my Wilderness Lodge!!! Someday I'm going to stay there for like, 2 weeks in December and just sit by the fireplace and read books all day. You can only do that when you're on a long trip though...because if you're only there for a few days, who's going to waste precious Disney time reading by the fireplace? :rotfl2:

And the Poly!:love::love::love: My dream resort! Seriously, I'm so obsessed with the Poly and the GF right now, I need to stay in one of these resorts soon, they are both just so perfect! Aww, the poor little mouse, I hope they caught it and set it free!

Hi Marissa! Loved your update.... what a great day! Other than the mouse and the bug from the underworld.

I've seen Wishes from the Poly beach and it was so amazing! Ahhhh... the most peaceful place to see those fireworks.

I LOVE AKL but I just intensely like WL. We included stays at both of those resorts this last trip. Disney does such an incredible job with the theming! Fabulous! Glad that you were able to see both + Poly + YC + BC in your day. You were on a roll!

I can't believe you didn't get anything at beaches and cream! I'm pretty sure I would have even if I wasn't hungry lol. Still haven't been there but it's definitely high on my Disney to do list.

Resort hopping sounds like so much fun. We're hoping for a trip next December and I was leaning towards GF if the budget comes together... But now you have me considering WL. That sounds like a perfect winter resort (except its Florida still lol)
