I was just on Disneyland.com and saw this "
Enjoy the Holidays at the Disneyland® Resort from November 21, 2008, to January 4, 2009. Check back soon for more details!*"

I will be there from 11/15 and leaving on 11/21. So I guess I will miss out on the parade and all the special events for the holidays. This just ruined by birthday. Sorry to vent but I had my hopes up that we would get to see the parade and fireworks since last year they started on 11/16.

Do you think that means that even the castle will not light up till 11/21?

Well have a great day.

Steven :sad1:

I'm sorry this is ruining the trip for you.

The timing of the holidays is dependent on the timing of Thanksgiving. Since tofurky day (that's what I call it) changes, so do their holidays. Last year the day was "early" in the month, so things started early. This year it's "late" so things are starting later.

Same with Haunted Mansion's overlay; it seems to be based on when Labor Day falls.

Any chance you could add just one day onto your trip, so you could have one jam-packed last day?

I am hoping that some of the trees and decorations are lit. I wish I could add a day, but tickets are bought and need to return home on 11/21. Oh well.

I agree with Bumber... add a day if that is possible! Even if you have to move your whole trip back by a day, I think it will be worth it!!

lol ... we posted at the same time.

What time do you leave on the 21st? Maybe you can stay late enough to see the afternoon parade?

All the decorations should be up during your trip. So it will still be christmas-y. I hope everything works out.

Just so you know, they start putting stuff up way before the date they post on the website. I am sure they won't start the entertainment until the 21st, but a lot of the decos go up before then.

So sorry. Don't let it ruin your trip. You are still at DL!

I just went over to mouseplanet and looked through their past updates and saw that yes the decorations do go up as soon as Halloween is over. At this point I am hoping that the castle and decorations will light at night and that I will not get to see the holiday fireworks and parade.

When I called Disneyland they also told me that IASW will not be open till 11/29. Today is just not my day. I forgot to ask about the holiday tour, but would expect that not to be offered until after 11/21.

Thanks to those that chimed in. Just a real big bummer. I grew up with Disneyland but have since moved to the east and now a WDW veteran. What made this trip special was that I have never been to DL during the holidays. Have a great day.

I was there on Veteran's Day of 2006 and it was still pretty great. I don't know if they started earlier that year, or if they only advertise from Thanksgiving. But they had Believe in Holiday Magic up and running for three nights I was there with the snow. I also think they had the Holiday Parade, as they were taping segments for a tv special. Hopefully by the time you go there will be some holiday stuff.

Have fun!

Ah, that is a bummer. We missed the Toy Story opening by like a week, so I know how you feel. Plenty of other stuff to enjoy though, like others said, it is DL! :)
